  1. 1. Road profile statistics relevant for vehicle fatigue

    Author : Klas Bogsjö; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operations research; Statistics; Matematik; Mathematics; model evaluation; vehicle fatigue; stochastic processes; road roughness; Road profiles; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; operationsanalys; programmering; aktuariematematik;

    Abstract : Road profiles are studied from a vehicle fatigue point of view. A wide range of roads have been measured: from smooth motorways to very rough gravel roads. It is observed that the road profiles consist of irregular sections, which makes the stationary Gaussian model unsuitable (Paper A). READ MORE

  2. 2. Pollutant profiles as tools for characterisation of environmental exposure

    Author : Håkan Wingfors; Peter Haglund; Calle Nilsson; Georg Becher; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Multivariate; PCB; PAH; dioxin; PLS; Environment; road tunnel; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with measurements of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in environmental samples. The POPs consist of several groups of compound with many isomers, hence analysing POPs in a complex environment is a This thesis is concerned with measurements of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in environmental samples. 3. 3. Road Ecology for Environmental Assessment

    Author : Mårten Karlson; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Jo Treweek; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Roads; Railways; Biodiversity; Environmental Assessment; GIS; Decision Support; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : Transport infrastructure is closely linked to several politically relevant sustainability issues, and since 1985 a formalized environmental assessment process is linked to planning and construction of new roads and railways in the EU (EU directives 85/337/EEC and 2001/42). The aim of the environmental assessment process is to think in advance; to identify, predict and evaluate significant environmental changes resulting from a proposed activity, in order to adjust the proposed activity accordingly and to avoid unnecessary and unexpected consequences. 4. 4. Electrification of Road Transportation - Implications for the Electricity System

    Author : Maria Taljegård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; highway E39; CO2 emissions; electric vehicle; electric road systems; energy system modelling; variable renewable electricity;

    Abstract : It is incumbent upon the transport sector to reduce its CO2 emissions by replacing fossil fuels with low-carbon alternatives. Suggested strategies include electrification of the road transport sector through the use of electric vehicles (EVs) with static charging, electric road systems (ERS), and the use of electricity to produce fuels. 5. 5. The impact of an Electrification of Road Transportation on the Electricity system in Scandinavia

    Author : Maria Taljegård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electric road systems; energy consumption; peak power; electric car; variation management; energy system modelling;

    Abstract : The transport sector needs to reduce CO2 emissions by replacing fossil fuels with low-carbon options. An electrification of the road transport sector through electric vehicles (EVs) with static charging; electric road systems (ERS); and using electricity to produce a fuel, are all suggested as possible options.
