1. Chemical attenuation of bacterial virulence : small molecule inhibitors of type III secretion
Abstract : Despite the large arsenal of antibiotics available on the market, treatment of bacterial infections becomes more challenging in view of the fact that microbes develop resistance against existing drugs. There is an obvious need for novel drugs acting on both old and new targets in bacteria. READ MORE

2. Simulation of Combustion and Mixture Formation for Gasoline Direct Injection Engine Application
Abstract : The development and introduction of new engine technologies are primarily motivated by the need to comply with increasingly stringent emissions legislation and to reduce fuel consumption. One of the most important of these new engine technologies is direct gasoline injection, which is considered to be an important and cost-effective measure to meet both targets. READ MORE

3. Numerical Modelling of Fuel Injection and Stratified Turbulent Combustion in a Direct-Injection Spark-Ignition Engine Using an Open Source Code
Abstract : Stringent regulations on the emission of pollutants, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), necessitate the development of advanced combustion technologies. Gasoline direct injection (GDI) into the combustion chamber of a Spark Ignition (SI) engine is a combustion strategy that is widely recognized as having the potential to improve fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines for passenger cars. 4. Neuroimaging biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by an accumulation of abnormal plaques and tangles in the brain, a process that is estimated to begin years before the appearance of clinical symptoms. Individuals with subjective memory decline (SMD) or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) run a higher risk of developing AD than cognitively normal (CN) people. READ MORE

5. Determinants of peptidyl-tRNA drop-off from E. coli Ribosomes : Effects of antibiotics, mutations and translation factors
Abstract : During protein synthesis, some peptidyl-tRNA molecules dissociate from the ribosomes and become hydrolysed by peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth). Two different in vitro systems, poly(U) and natural mRNA programmed ribosomes, have been used in order to determine dissociation (drop-off) rates of deacylated- and peptidyl-tRNAs from different sites on ribosomes.
