21. The Impact of Substance P (SP) N-Terminal Metabolite SP1-7 in Opioid Tolerance and Withdrawal
Abstract : The heptapeptide SP1-7, a metabolite of the neuroactive peptide substance P (SP), is suggested to play a role in opioid addiction and memory function. These two dimensions are known to involve dopamine and glutamate transmissions mediated through dopamine receptors and N-methyl-D- aspartate (NNMA) receptors, respectively. READ MORE

22. Analytical method development for ultra-trace determination of human pharmaceuticals in aqueous samples. Assessing the performance of a sewage treatment plant
Abstract : Research focus in environmental pollution has recently been extended from more classical environmental pollutants such as PCBs or pesticides to pharmaceuticals and steroid hormones, which are designed to be biologically active and enter the environment primarily through regular domestic use. Consequently, it is important to monitor these substances concentrations in the effluents of sewage treatment plants (STPs) and in the environment in order to evaluate their associated risks. 23. Novel clean-up, concentration and laser desorption/ionization strategies for mass spectrometry
Abstract : Despite valuable advantages of mass spectrometry (MS) techniques they still have drawbacks that need to be overcome, notably their sensitivity to various kinds of interfering substances and associated difficulties involved in detecting signals from analytes present in trace quantities. Thus, high quality analytical data could be acquired by improving sample pre-treatment techniques and/or ionization methods to increase ionization yields and/or avoid the generation of unwanted ions. 24. Studies on the level of substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide in cerebrospinal fluid of pregnant women and patients with chronic pain and in rat brain after spinal cord injury : Special reference to analytical aspects of neuropeptides
Abstract : Substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are sensory peptides known to be involved innociception and inflammatory processes. It is well demonstrated that the two peptides can be released from spinal cord neurons during inflammation and chronic pain induced by peripheral nerve injury. READ MORE

25. POROUS POLYMERS AND DESIGNED SORBENTS FOR APPLICATIONS IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH
Abstract : Everyday millions of bioanalyses are performed in clinical laboratories, hospitals and research centers, where technicians and bio-analysts utilize analytical chemistry principles and instruments to serve medicine and biomedical research. A method routinely used for sample preparation in bioanalysis is solid-phase extraction (SPE). READ MORE
