  1. 1. ST-elevation myocardial infarction : studies of outcome in relation to fibrinolysis and ischemia monitoring with on-line vectorcardiography

    Author : Johan Nilsson; Ulf Näslund; Kurt Boman; Kristian Thygesen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Medicine; Myocardial infarction; vectorcardiography; fibrinolysis; reperfusion; Medicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : The treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has undergone a tremendous development during the last decades, and the most important factor is probably the introduction of reperfusion therapy aimed at preventing or limiting the myocardial injury. It is of vital importance that patients with AMI are adequately monitored regarding the development of ECG changes during and after treatment to identify successful or failed reperfusion and to detect episodes of recurrent ischemia. 2. 2. Coagulation Inhibition and Development of Myocardial Damage in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

    Author : Gunnar Frostfeldt; Marianne Hartford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; myocardial infarction; fibrinolysis; lmw-heparin; coagulation; troponin-T; PET; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : In 101 patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated with streptokinase the additional effects of lmw-heparin (dalteparin) were investigated. The prognostic value of troponin-T (TnT) was elucidated and the development of myocardial damage was investigated with Positron Emission Tomography (PET). READ MORE

    Abstract : IntroductionPaper I: An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was constructed to identify ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and predict the need for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Paper II, III and IV: Studies suggest that O2 therapy may be harmful in STEMI patients. READ MORE

  4. 4. Doppler tissue imaging in ST-elevation myocardial infarction

    Author : Nils Witt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Highly available, noninvasive and cost-effective, echocardiography remains a keystone in the evaluation of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Echocardiographic assessment of cardiac function at rest and during dobutamine stress has direct clinical implications. READ MORE

  5. 5. Early Risk Stratification, Treatment and Outcome in ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

    Author : Erik Björklund; Bertil Lindahl; Lars Wallentin; Ulf Näslund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute myocardial infarction; Thrombolysis; Troponin; Electrocardiography; Natriuretic peptide; Prognosis; Prehospital thrombolysis; Treatment delay; Mortality; Registry; Clinical trial; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. READ MORE
