  1. 6. Social Dilemmas: The Role of Incentives, Norms and Institutions

    Author : Marcela Ibanez Diaz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; portfolio model of crime; norms of behavior; choice experiment; field experiment; public goods; income heterogeneity; illegal drugs; Colombia;

    Abstract : The subject of this dissertation is social dilemmas. In a social dilemma situation, there is a clear incentive not to cooperate. However, if nobody cooperates, then everybody is worse off than if they had cooperated. The question we try to answer in this dissertation is what prevents non-cooperation. READ MORE

  2. 7. Microgels as drug delivery vehicles : loading and release of amphiphilic drugs

    Author : Yassir Al-Tikriti; Per Hansson; Magnus Bergström; Matthew Libera; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microgel; amphiphilic drug; phase separation; micropipette; Raman microscopy; controlled release; drug delivery; SAXS; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Polyelectrolyte microgels are used as delivery vehicles for amphiphilic drugs in, e.g., treatments of liver cancer by a method called trans-arterial chemoembolization. READ MORE

  3. 8. Ligands of the Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor : Exploring structure and function of the AT2R ligand C38

    Author : Rebecka Isaksson; Mats Larhed; Annette Bayer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiotensin II type 2 receptor; AT2R antagonists; sulfonyl carbamates; bicyclic amides; metabolic stability; functional activity assay; pharmacological profile; medicinal chemistry; structure-activity relationship; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system (RAAS) control blood-pressure regulation, exerted by the main effector peptide angiotensin II (AngII) binding the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R). While hypertension is the most known disease caused by over-activity in RAAS, several proteins in the system exhibit protective functions. READ MORE

  4. 9. Analysis of drugs and proteins in biological matrices, using different types of sample preparations and mass spectrometry

    Author : Aljona Saleh; Ingrid Granelli; Jonas Bergquist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioanalysis; drugs; proteins; liquid chromatography; two-dimensional liquid chromatography; mass spectrometry; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes bioanalysis of small and large molecules in biological matrices and includes screening of illegal drugs in urine with high resolution mass spectrometer, bioanalysis of MTH1 inhibitors in mice plasma and quantification of proteins in plasma and cell lysates.Screening of illegal drugs was based on high resolving power mass spectrometer (QTOF) and the results were compared to immunoassays. 5. 10. Nucleic Acids as Drug Targets - Influence of Platinum Complexes on Duplex Stability and Binding Kinetics

    Author : Christopher Polonyi; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anticancer drugs; platinum complexes; cisplatin; oxaliplatin; nucleic acid; RNA; DNA; duplex melting; thermodynamic stability; kinetics; non-coding RNA; miRNA; siRNA; wobble base pair; loop; BRCA1; mimic; luciferase assay;

    Abstract : Gaining a detailed understanding of how human cells are affected by metal-based drugs is crucial, since these drugs have shown great potential in cancer treatment. Cisplatin is used to treat many different types of cancer, e.g. testicular, ovarian, melanoma, bladder, non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, myelomas and lymphomas. READ MORE
