  1. 1. Transmission Electron Microscopy of 2D Materials : Structure and Surface Properties

    Author : Linda Karlsson; Per Persson; Javier Bareno; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transmission Electron Microscopy; Two-dimensional materials; Graphene; MXene; Ti3C2Tx; Low-voltage TEM; Aberration-corrected TEM; monchromated TEM; Scanning transmission electron microscopy; Electron energy loss spectroscopy;

    Abstract : During recent years, new types of materials have been discovered with unique properties. One family of such materials are two-dimensional materials, which include graphene and MXene. These materials are stronger, more flexible, and have higher conductivity than other materials. As such they are highly interesting for new applications, e. READ MORE

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Graphene and Hydrated Biomaterial Nanostructures : Novel Techniques and Analysis

    Author : Sultan Akhtar; Klaus Leifer; Hilborn Jöns; Stefano Rubino; Marco Cantoni; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Graphene flakes; magnetic beads DNA coils; hydrated biomaterials; transmission electron microscopy; focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy; bright-field dark-field imaging; high resolution imaging; electron diffraction and cryogenic temperatures; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) on light element materials and soft matters is problematic due to electron irradiation damage and low contrast. In this doctoral thesis techniques were developed to address some of those issues and successfully characterize these materials at high resolution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Induced Luminescence Studies of Semiconductor Nanostructures

    Author : Ulf Håkanson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transmission electron microscopy TEM ; III-V semiconductors; low-dimensional structures; nanostructures; single dot spectroscopy; Stranski-Krastanow; quantum dot QD ; Semiconductory physics; polarization; ordering; InP; GaInP; photon mapping; scanning tunneling microscopy STM ; scanning tunneling luminescence STL ; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Håkanson;

    Abstract : This thesis treats scanning tunneling luminescence (STL) investigations of semiconductor nanostructures. The STL technique combines scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) with detection of photons, induced by the tunneling electrons. The high spatial resolution in STM and the local excitation allow for optical investigations on the nanometer-scale. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multimodal and multiscale characterization of bone and bone interfaces in health and disease
