Abstract : In this dissertation I examine school journeys in secondary education in Portugal between 1890 and 1960, focusing on State regulation, educational ideas and school practice. By bringing together the various parts of a broader discourse on a way of thinking and making schooling, I look at how this active method was regulated, argued and reportedly undertaken with a twofold aim: to expand the knowledge on the history of school journeys, and to contribute to the research on the ideas and practices of educational modernity. Abstract : Avhandlingens övergripande syfte är att förvärva kunskap om vad som främjar respektive vad som hindrar föräldrasamverkan i en grundskola med elever i skolåren 6-9 belägen i ett invandrartät område, samt nå en bättre förståelse av hur föräldrar med arabisk bakgrund och lärare ser på föräldrasamverkan i skolan. 4. Internal capacities for school improvement : Principals' views in Swedish secondary schools
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to describe and analyse principals´ views of collaboration forms, staff development and leadership, as critical internal capacities for school improvement, in five more successful and four less successful Swedish secondary schools, and compare the qualitative similarities and/or differences in the principals´ views at the level of schools. A successful school is understood to be a school where pupils accomplish both the academic objectives and the social/civic objectives in the National Curriculum. READ MORE
