  1. 21. Ordovician (Billingen and Volkhov stages) Brachiopod Faunas of the East Baltic

    Author : Eva Egerquist; Lars Holmer; John S. Peel; Michael G. Bassett; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Early Middle Ordovician; Billingen Regional Stage; Volkhov Regional Stage; Diversity; Brachiopoda; Conodonta; Ostracoda; Estonia; Russia; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : Lower-Middle Ordovician (Arenig) successions in the East Baltic have been investigated for more than one hundred and fifty years. Nevertheless detailed sampling still yields new species and better knowledge of the environment in which these organisms lived. READ MORE

  2. 22. Suspended solids and indicator bacteria in stormwater runoff : Sources of bias in field measurements

    Author : Helen Galfi; David Stransky; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Stormwater quality monitoring and control is a prerequisite for sustainable water resources management in urban areas. Stormwater monitoring programs are based on general water sampling guidance and, in the absence of standard procedures, employ various sampling and analytical methods. READ MORE

  3. 23. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments

    Author : Anders Tengberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine sediments; benthic fluxes; incubations; chambers; in-situ; benthic landers; autonomous vehicles; lander technology; hydrodynamics; calibration; experimental design; Partial Least Squares PLS ; sensors; fugacity; oxygen; carbon; nitrogen; phosphorus; silica; dissolved organic carbon DOC ; total carbonate; recycling; burial; lander technology;

    Abstract : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 4. 24. Pathways of pollutants in stormwater systems

    Author : Kristin Karlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The choice of stormwater procedures will affect the pathways of the water and its pollutants, since different stormwater facilities reduce different types of substances and fractions to varying degrees. Traditional stormwater handling has mainly been emphasised to transport the water from the cities. READ MORE

  5. 25. Setting the Holocene clock using varved lake sediments in Sweden

    Author : Lovisa Zillén; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; Physical geography; tephrochronology; palaeomagnetic secular variations; radiocarbon time-scale; Holocene varved lake sediments; varve chronology; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study annually laminated (varved) Holocene lake sediment in Sweden, their formation and their potential as chronological and palaeoecological archives. Five lakes with continuous Holocene varved lake sediment sequences in northern (Västerbotten) and west central Sweden (Värmland) were investigated. READ MORE
