  1. 1. Model-based and matched-filterbank signal analysis

    Author : Andreas Jakobsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-parametric spectral estimation; efficient implementations; array processing; parameter estimation; identifiability; subspace fitting; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : The dissertation deals with model-based and matched-filterbank signal analysis. The matched-filterbank (MAFI) spectral estimation approach is introduced, and it is shown that both the amplitude spectrum Capon (ASC) and the amplitude and phase estimation (APES) spectral estimators can be expressed as MAFI spectral estimators. 2. 2. Signal processing applied to acoustic distance estimation and sound classification

    Author : Lennart Olsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : The thesis treats some signal processing applications to retrieval of information from acoustic measurements. In the distance estimation applications (parts AI, A2, B and C) an acoustic signal propagates through a physical system and is modified according to some system parameter. READ MORE

  3. 3. Group-Theoretical Structure in Multispectral Color and Image Databases

    Author : Thanh Hai Bui; Reiner Lenz; Björn Kruse; Jinhui Chao; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; group theory; PCA Principal Component Analysis ; CBIR; Content-based Image Retrieval ; filter; color; image; multispectral; database; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Many applications lead to signals with nonnegative function values. Understanding the structure of the spaces of nonnegative signals is therefore of interest in many different areas. Hence, constructing effective representation spaces with suitable metrics and natural transformations is an important research topic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sound Classification in Hearing Instruments

    Author : Peter Nordqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sound Classification HMM Hearing Aid; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Abstract : A variety of algorithms intended for the new generation of hearing aids is presented in this thesis. The main contribution of this work is the hidden Markov model (HMM) approach to classifying listening environments. This method is efficient and robust and well suited for hearing aid applications. 5. 5. Characterization of energy gases by ultrasound : theory and experiments

    Author : Pär-Erik Martinsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : The long-term goal with the research presented in this thesis has been to develop an ultrasonic sensor capable of measuring the energy content of energy gases such as natural- and biogas. The energy content can be calculated if the concentration of each constituent of a gas mixture is known. READ MORE
