1. Using hardware simulations in the design of large scale trigger and data acquisition systems
Abstract : The increasing complexity of physics experiments, especially in the field of high energy physics, requires efficient design methods to be used throughout the development. In the next generation of high energy physics experiments, e.g. READ MORE

2. On Impact and Tolerance of Data Errors with Varied Duration in Microprocessors
Abstract : The evolution of high-performance and low-cost microprocessors has led to their almost pervasive usage in embedded systems such as automotive electronics, smart gadgets, communication devices, etc. These mass-market products, when deployed in safety-critical systems, require safe services albeit at low recurring costs. 3. Fault Injection for Studying Error Behavior and Validation of Error Detecting Mechanisms
Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and validation of low-cost error detecting mechanisms that can be used to implement self-checking computers. The research objectives of the thesis are three-fold: (i) to investigate and develop a simulation-based fault injection technique that can be used on a wide range of VHDL simulation models, (ii) to investigate error propagation mechanisms in microprocessors in order to understand how to design low-cost error detecting mechanisms and (iii) to design and validate error detecting mechanisms. 4. Feature Extraction for Low-Frequency Signal Classification
Abstract : The development of the International Monitoring System (IMS) for the verification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) has led to a rapid revival of interest in infrasound. Furthermore, the installation of low-frequency sensors at seismic sites has increased in recent years, providing researchers with large and heterogeneous data-sets in near real-time. READ MORE

5. All Digital Polar Transmitter Design for Software Defined Radio : Architecture and Low Power Circuit Implementation
Abstract : The evolving wireless communication technology is aiming highdata rate, high mobility, long distance and at the meantime, co-existwith various different standards. This developing trend requires ahighly linear transceiver system and it causes the problem of lowefficiency due to the large crest factor of signals. READ MORE
