  1. 1. Human Skeletal Muscle : a basic proteomic approach

    Author : Jenny Hadrevi; Fatima Pedrosa-Domellöf; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The trapezius is a muscle of clinical interest due to its susceptibility to chronic work related musculoslteletal disorders. The mechanisms underlying these conditions are not fully understood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Working Animals and Skeletal Lesions : Paleopathology of Cattle and Horse in Iron Age and Medieval Öland, Sweden

    Author : Ylva Telldahl; Jan Storå; László Bartosiewicz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Skeletal lesions; draught use of cattle; sacrificed horses; Iron Age; Middle Ages; Eketorp ringfort; Skedemosse wetland; Öland; sweden; osteoarkeologi; Osteoarchaeology;

    Abstract : Central to this thesis is the relationship between animal husbandry practices and the associated pathological conditions. Since bone elements from the extremities are subjected to abnormal load when animals are put to hard work this research aims to go further and interpret the prevalence of varying lesions and their connection with animal husbandry by using methods such as osteometric analysis, conventional radiograpic and bone mineral study, as well as incorporated molecular analysis. 3. 3. Primary Hyperparathyroidism - Aspects on skeletal Involvemnt and PTH levels after Surgery

    Author : Erik Nordenström; Lund Kirurgi; []

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate risk factors for fractures in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT), to study the association between preoperative variables and postoperative changes in bone density and to investigate long-term changes and peripheral PTH sensitivity in patients with elevated PTH levels after surgery. 203 pHPT patients were investigated with regard to clinical and biochemical variables and bone density. 4. 4. Fatty Acid Composition in Skeletal Muscle : Influence of Physical Activity and Dietary Fat Quality

    Author : Agneta Andersson; Len Storlien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Skeletal muscle; phospholipids; triglycerides; fatty acids; physical activity; lipid peroxidation; dietary fat quality; n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Geriatrics; geriatrik;

    Abstract : Insulin sensitivity is related to the fatty acid profile of skeletal muscle. The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether physical activity and dietary fat quality, independent of each other, influence the fatty acid composition of the skeletal muscle lipids. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ultrasonic Quantification of Skeletal Muscle Dynamics : Feasibility and Limitations

    Author : Frida Lindberg; Lars-Åke Brodin; Christer Grönlund; Tomas Jansson; KTH; []

    Abstract : Pain and disorders of the human skeletal muscles are one of the most common reasons for medical consultations in the western countries today and there is a great need to improve both the understanding and treatment of several different muscular conditions.Techniques describing the muscle function in vivo are often limited by either their invasiveness or lack of spatial resolution.
