  1. 1. Hybrid Methods for Computational Electromagnetics in Frequency Domain

    Author : Stefan Hagdahl; Björn Engquist; Lars Pettersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maxwell s equations; Geometrical Theory of Diffraction; Smooth Surface Diffraction; Boundary Element Method; Hybrid methods; Electromagnetic Scattering; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study hybrid numerical methods to be used in computational electromagnetics. The purpose is to address a wide frequency range relative to a given geometry. We also focus on efficient and robust numerical algorithms for computing the so called Smooth Surface Diffraction predicted by Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD). READ MORE

  2. 2. Elastic Wave Scattering by Cracks - Interfacial Forces and High Frequency Diffraction

    Author : Gert Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ultrasonic testing; Wiener-Hopf calculations; Geometrical Theory of Diffraction; edge diffracted body waves; PEDGE; two-dimensional diffraction; geometrical elastodynamic waves;

    Abstract : This thesis treats elastic wave scattering by cracks with interfacial forces. The results are of practical interest in ultrasonic testing and includes development of numerical methods used to predict such testing. First the canonical problem of two-dimensional (2-D) diffraction from a semi-infinite crack is solved. READ MORE

  3. 3. The effect of workpiece material and its microstructure on tool wear in metal cutting

    Author : Philipp Hoier; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Scanning electron microscopy; Superalloy; Cutting tool; Wear; Cemented carbide; Steel; Machining;

    Abstract : The aim of the present work is to promote the basic understanding of how the workpiece material and its microstructure affect the tool wear during metal cutting. To isolate the effect of the workpiece material, the tool material (uncoated cemented carbide) was kept constant while the workpiece was varied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Application of SiGe(C) in high performance MOSFETs and infrared detectors

    Author : Mohammadreza Kolahdouz Esfahani; Henry Radamson; Ya-Hong Xie; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Silicon Germanium Carbon SiGeC ; Reduced Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition RPCVD ; Epitaxy; Pattern Dependency; MOSFET; Mobility; bolometer; Quantum Well; Infrared IR Detection; Ni Silicide; High Resolution X-ray Diffraction HRXRD ; High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy HRSEM ; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : Epitaxially grown SiGe(C) materials have a great importance for many device applications. In these applications, (strained or relaxed) SiGe(C) layers are grown either selectively on the active areas, or on the entire wafer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Growth, Characterization, and Thermal Stability of CeO2 Thin Films

    Author : Sissel N. Jacobsen; David K. Fork; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Rare earth oxides are potentially useful materials in various optical electronic, and catalytic devices. The characteristics of such devices are strongly dependent on the interface structure of heterojunctions, hence engineering of the performance can be achieved through tailoring of the micro- and/ or surface structure.
