  1. 1. Pathogenetic Mechanisms in Soft Tissue Tumors

    Author : Elsa Arbajian; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : Soft tissue tumors; Sarcomas; Gene fusions; SNP array; Next generation sequencing; Haploidization; Point mutations;

    Abstract : Soft tissue tumors (STT) constitute a heterogeneous group of tumors that arise in tissues of mesenchymal origin. They are currently classified according to morphology and resemblance to normal tissue into over 100 subtypes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetic Profiling in Soft Tissue Sarcoma

    Author : Princy Francis; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; synovial sarcoma; prognosis; Cytology; SS18-SSX; intratumor heterogeneity; aCGH; array comparative genomic hybridization; gene expression analysis; microarray; cDNA; Soft tissue sarcoma; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Abstract : Soft tissue sarcomas (STS) are a heterogeneous group of highly malignant mesenchymal tumors that account for ~1% of all malignancies. Frequent heterogeneity and pleomorphism along with suboptimal diagnostic reproducibility and insufficient prognostic markers make clinical management of these tumors difficult. READ MORE

  3. 3. Soft tissue integration to dental implants

    Author : Maria Welander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; connective tissue; dental implants; epithelium; gold alloy; histology; peri-implant mucosa; subcrestal placement; titanium; zirconia;

    Abstract : Soft tissue integration is a prerequisite for implant success. The role of the soft tissue barrier at implants is to provide an effective seal that protects the underlying bone and prevents access for microorganisms and their products. READ MORE

  4. 4. Imaging of soft tissue tumors

    Author : Hildur Einarsdóttir; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this project on soft tissue tumors, was to evaluate existing imaging methods and test new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sequences for diagnosis and assessment of cytotoxic therapy and to relate the imaging studies to cytology to explore the limitations of each procedure. Patients and method: The studies were based on patients with a soft tissue lesion diagnosed and treated at the Orthopedic Tumor Service at the Karolinska Hospital 1990-2003. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chronic Tennis Elbow : Aspects on Pathogenesis and Treatment in a Soft Tissue Pain Condition

    Author : Magnus Peterson; Kurt Svärdsudd; Margaretha Eriksson; Harald Breivik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : tennis elbow; pain; chronic; soft tissue; imaging; PET; RCT; survey; treatment; exercise; eccentric; concentric; epicondylosis; epicondylitis; tendinosis; tendinitis;

    Abstract : Objectives: To study the treatment practice of chronic tennis elbow (TE) among general practitioners (GPs) and physiotherapists (PTs), the effects of a simple, graded home exercise regime versus expectation, the effects of eccentric versus concentric exercise, and the involvement of the substance P – NK1 receptor system in the peripheral, painful tissue of chronic TE patients by positron emission tomography (PET). Materials and methods: A postal survey regarding therapeutic methods used in patients with chronic TE was sent to 129 GPs and 77 PTs, 81 subjects with chronic TE were randomly and blindly assigned to either an exercise group or a wait list group, 120 subjects were randomly assigned to either eccentric or concentric exercise and ten subjects were examined by PET and the NK1 specific radioligand [11C]GR205171.
