    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Source-sorted waste; Household waste; Textile; Biofuel; Firewood; Pellets; Combustion; Wood boiler; Pellet boiler; Backyard burning; Garden waste; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emission factor; Källsorterat avfall; Hushållsavfall; Textil; Biobränsle; Ved; Pellets; Förbränning; Vedpanna; Pelletpanna; Trädgårdsavfall; PCDD F; dioxin; PCB; Emissionsfaktor; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : Denna avhandling behandlar rökgasutsläpp av persistenta organiska föroreningar, framförallt dioxiner, vid förbränning av fasta biobränslen och torrt hushållsavfall i relativt små anläggningar (5-600 kW) utan avancerad rökgasreningsteknik.Samförbränning av avfall och biobränsle i effektiva mindre biobränslepannor testades som en alternativ strategi till den vanligen förekommande storskaliga hanteringen och förbränningen fast hushållsavfall. 2. 2. Increase of Biogas Production at Wastewater Treatment Plants Addition of urban organic waste and pre-treatment of sludge

    Author : Åsa Davidsson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kontroll av utsläpp; pollution control; Miljöteknik; Environmental technology; Miljöstudier; Environmental studies; biogas; anaerobic digestion; sludge; Wastewater; organic waste; methane;

    Abstract : Anaerobic digestion of organic matter results in the production of biogas, which can be used to replace fossil fuels. There is potential for increased biogas production at wastewater treatment plants by digesting urban organic waste either separately or together with the sludge. Biogas production could also be increased by sludge pre-treatment. READ MORE

  3. 3. EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE HYDROLYSIS DURING ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF COMPLEX WASTE

    Author : Dores Cirne; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Biotechnology; bioaugmentation; enzyme addition; Environmental technology; pollution control; FISH; cellulose; inhibition; lipids; Clostridium lundense; hydrolysis; complex substrate; Anaerobic digestion; renewable energy; Bioteknik; LCFA;

    Abstract : Anaerobic digestion (AD) offers considerable potential in the production of energy from renewable sources, and is being increasingly recognised as a sustainable technology for the treatment of waste. The production of energy from waste such as municipal solid waste (MSW), lipid-rich waste, and agricultural biomass and waste may play an important role in the production of renewable energy given the huge amounts of these types of waste generated annually. 4. 4. When and why is pre-treatment of substrates for anaerobic digestion useful?

    Author : My Carlsson; Hinrich Uellendahl; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Abstract : Anaerobic digestion (AD) plays a key role in the recovery of renewable energy, in the form of biogas, and nutrients from waste materials. Pre-treatment of AD substrates has the potential to improve process performance in terms of increased methane yield and solids reduction, but pretreatments are not yet widely implemented into full-scale AD systems. 5. 5. Systems Analysis for Eco-Industrial Development : Applied on Cement and Biogas Production Systems

    Author : Roozbeh Feiz; Mats Eklund; Jonas Ammenberg; Olli Salmi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; industrial ecology; eco-industrial development; multi-criteria analysis; life-cycle assessment; MCA; LCA; uncertainty management; systems analysis; industrial symbiosis; cement; biogas; cement production; biogas solutions;

    Abstract : Our industrial systems are not sustainable—a major challenge which demands several types of responses. Eco-industrial development can be seen as such a response, with the goal to establish industrial systems that are both ecological and economical. Industrial Ecology is another closely related response. READ MORE
