1. Noise sensitivity and FK-type representations for Gaussian and stable processes
Abstract : This thesis contains four papers on probability theory. Paper A concerns the question of whether the exclusion sensitivity and exclusion stability of a sequence of Boolean functions are monotone with respect to adding edges to the underlying sequence of graphs. READ MORE

2. Ruin probabilities and first passage times for self-similar processes
Abstract : This thesis investigates ruin probabilities and first passage times for self-similar processes. We propose self-similar processes as a risk model with claims appearing in good and bad periods. Then, in particular, we get the fractional Brownian motion with drift as a limit risk process. 3. Tailored process gases for laser powder bed fusion
Abstract : Metal laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) allows for production of complex components using the energy from a laser to locally melt micron-sized powder following a layer-wise approach. Considerable scientific efforts are focused on addressing the influence of the process parameters on the melting stability and the control of material properties, while developing necessary monitoring and characterization tools. 4. Development Towards Sustainable Ironmaking : The IronArc Process
Abstract : The IronArc process is a novel process for a more sustainable production of liquid pig iron using electricity for heating and hydrocarbons for reduction. This thesis aims to facilitate its use by investigating possible refractory solutions and the gas blowing in the process which is done by a plasma generator. READ MORE

5. The unemployment process : studies of search, selection, and social mobility in the labor market
Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to examine some particular aspects of the unemployment process, the process by which the risk of unemployment is distributed within a population. This process can be partitioned into five distinct stages; the initiation of a "negative work career", entry into unemployment, the situation during unemployment, exit from unemployment, and finally the long-term consequences of unemployment for the employment situation of the individual.
