  1. 1. Reluctantly Virtual : Modelling Copyright Industry Dynamics

    Author : Patrik Wikström; Robert Burnett; Will Straw; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Music industry dynamics; Internet; Media; Production of culture; Qualitative system dynamics modelling; Organisational adaptation; Copyright; Media and communication studies; Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap; Media and Communication Studies; Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap; Business studies;

    Abstract : During the evolution of the music industry, developments in the media environment have required music firms to adapt in order to survive. Changes in broadcast radio programming during the 1950s; the Compact Cassette during the 1970s; and the deregulation of media ownership during the 1990s are all examples of changes which have heavily affected the music industry. Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to develop an economical, sustainable, and environmentally friendly straw Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) process, capable of full-scale manufacturing and to produce MDF of requested quality. The investigated straw was based on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and rice (Oryzae sativa L.). READ MORE

  3. 3. Activity concentrations of radionuclides in energy production from peat, wood chips and straw

    Author : Robert Hedvall; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radionuclides; peat; wood; chips; straw; bioenergy; biomass; district heating; emission; Cs; Physics; Chernobyl; Radioactivity; Fysik; Technological sciences; Teknik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Hedvall;

    Abstract : In this thesis quantitative analyses of radionuclide concentrations in bioenergy fuels such as peat, wood chips and straw are presented. For comparison a brief description is included of radionuclide concentrations and radiation doses from other sources of power and also from some industrial applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Extraction of polymeric rapeseed straw hemicelluloses for renewable films

    Author : Antonia Svärd; Ulrica Edlund; Elisabet Sjöholm; Emma Strömberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; rapeseed straw canola straw; hemicellulose; xylan; mannan; extraction; characterization; severity factor; hemicellulose film; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Polymeric hemicelluloses with high molecular weight were extracted from rapeseed straw with a straight forward hydrothermal extraction method, evaluated and refined by statistical factorial screening design and ‘severity factor’ analysis. The influence of the extraction conditions, time, temperature and pH of the extraction liquid, on the composition, molecular weight, yield and properties was unveiled. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biopolymers and materials from rapeseed straw biorefining

    Author : Antonia Svärd; Ulrica Edlund; Elisabet Brännvall; Stefan Willför; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rapeseed canola straw; biorefinery; hemicelluloses; lignin; cellulose; cellulose nanoparticles; films; grafting; thermoplastic; biocomposites; rapshalm; bioraffinaderi; hemicellulosa; lignin; cellulosa; cellulosa nano partiklar; hemicellulosafilm; ympning; termoplastisk; biokompositer; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Rapeseed straw was fractionated through a hydrothermal process into its hemicellulose, lignin and cellulose components. In the first step, hemicellulose-rich fractions were extracted. Xylan-rich fractions with high molecular weight, 30,000 – 50,000 g/mol, were obtained at 110 °C and 1.5 M NaOH. READ MORE
