  1. 1. Efficient Carbohydrate Synthesis By Intra- and Supramolecular Control

    Author : Hai Dong; Olof Ramström; Ulf Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrate Chemistry; Supramolecular Control; Ambident Reactivity; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Lattrell-Dax method of nitrite-mediated substitution of carbohydrate triflates is an efficient method to generate structures of inverse configuration. In this study, the effects of the neighboring group on the Lattrell-Dax inversion were explored. READ MORE

    Abstract : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience. 3. 3. Flexibility – a tool for chirality control in asymmetric catalysis

    Author : Raivis Zalubovskis; Christina Moberg; Alexandre Alexakis; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flexibility; symmetry; dissymmetry; asymmetric catalysis; chiral ligands; pseudo-C2; pseudo-CS; conformational study; rotation barrier; pyrrolidines; phospholanes; azepines; phosphepines; supramolecular; hydrogenation; allylic alkylation; silaboration; palladium; rhodium; nickel; platinum; iridium.; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and synthesis of ligands for asymmetric catalysis: palladium catalyzed allylic alkylations, and rho-dium and iridium catalyzed hydrogenations of olefins. Chirally flexible phosphepine ligands based on biphenyl were synthesized and their properties were studied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Self-assembly in Melts of Block copolymer-based Systems Featuring Supramolecular Interactions

    Author : Mehran Asad Ayoubi; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hierarchical self-assembly; melt; block copolymer; cationic surfactant; non-ionic surfactant; supramolecular interactions; microphase separation; Linear-b-AmphComb;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is experimental investigation of self-assembly in solvent-free (ionic) macromolecular systems that contain block copolymer chains as the basic constituent component in combination with low molecular weight amphiphiles. In particular, especial attention is paid to study thoroughly a new class of block copolymer-based ionic supramolecules, named as Linear-b-AmphComb, that feature novel hierarchical self-assembly characteristics. Abstract : Advancements in drug delivery have enabled a wider array of prevention, control and treatment of diseases such as cancer. Drug delivery systems have the possibility of encapsulating drugs with low solubility, delivering them to specific locations in the body as well as obtaining a controlled and sustained drug release.
