1. Perturbative Aspects of Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory on T3
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with perturbative aspects of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in a space-time of the form T3xR, in the regime where the gauge coupling is weak. Wave functions of vacuum states of super Yang-Mills theoriesare supported on the moduli space of flat connections, and we consider a semi-classical treatment of such theories, obtained by expanding the fields around some normalizable zero energy background field configuration. 2. Fibroblast growth factor-23 and Klotho in bone/mineral and parathyroid disorders
Abstract : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) is a novel, bone-produced hormone that regulates renal phosphate (Pi) reabsorption and calcitriol metabolism. Disorders of mineral and bone metabolism, such as autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets (ADHR) and hyperostosis-hyperphosphatemia syndrome (HHS), witness the importance of well-balanced serum levels of FGF23. 3. Thyroid function and breast cancer. Risk and clinical outcome in relation to thyroid hormones (free T3/T4), TSH, TPO-Antibodies and genetic variants
Abstract : Thyroid hormone level has been positively associatedwith breast cancer cell proliferation andtumour growth in experimental studies. However, previous observational studies have been contradictoryon the relationship between thyroidfunction and breast cancer. Age is a known riskfactor for breast cancer but its role as a prognosticfactor is less clear. READ MORE

4. Regulation of gene transcription by the thyroid hormone receptors
Abstract : Thyroid hormone (TH) has important effects on postnatal development as well as on adult metabolic homeostasis. TH meditates its effects through different isoforms of the thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) encoded by the TRalpha and TRbeta genes, respectively. TRs belong to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. READ MORE

5. Membrane transport of triiodothyronine : With particular reference to erythrocytes in health and disease
Abstract : Cellular T3 uptake was studied in three human cell systems, i.e. cultured lymphocytes, erythrocytes and erythrocyte membrane vesicles. READ MORE
