  1. 1. Analysis of signaling pathway activity in single cells using the in situ Proximity Ligation Assay

    Author : Linda Arngården; Ola Söderberg; Niclas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : cell signaling; Wnt; Hippo; TGFB; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : A cell that senses signals from its environment uses proteins for signal transduction via post translational modifications (PTMs) and protein- protein interactions (PPIs) from cell membrane into the nucleus where genes controlling cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis can be turned on or off, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 2. FoxF genes in development and disease

    Author : Seyed Ali Moussavi Nik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FOXF1; Sfrp1; LGR5 stem cells; Tgfb; Wnt signaling; ECM; Intact intestinal epithelium; Foxf2; ACDMPV;

    Abstract : Forkhead transcription factors of the FoxF group are important during embryonic de-velopment, and mutation of either of the members, Foxf1 and Foxf2, has fatal conse-quences. In this thesis, I present our recent findings about the mechanism of action of FoxF genes in development and disease. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular studies of pancreatic cancer: Characterization of the transforming growth factor beta signaling pathway

    Author : Tord Jonson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SMAD4; PCR; FISH; cytogenetics; chromosome; pancreatic cancer; TGFB signaling; cytogenetik; Genetik; Genetics;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, genetic abnormalities in pancreatic cancer were studied, with special emphasis on alterations of components involved in the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) signaling pathway. In the first study, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic analyses revealed aberrations of chromosome 18 in all 13 pancreatic carcinoma cell lines studied, in particular frequent breaks close to the centromere of chromosome arm 18q. 4. 4. Non-canonical TGFb signaling pathways in prostate cancer

    Author : Jie Song; Marene Landström; Staffan Strömblad; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TGFβ; TβRI; TRAF6; ubiquitination; APPL1; p85; AKT; PKCζ;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in men in the Western world. Deregulation of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) signaling pathway is frequently detected in prostate cancer and contributes to tumor growth, migration, and invasion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Functional and bioinformatical studies of the TGFb superfamily : identification and characterization of ALK7

    Author : Henrik Jörnvall; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The transforming growth factor beta (TGFbeta) superfamily of polypeptide growth factors encompasses more than 30 diverse mammalian members. They are involved in most cellular processes, ranging from cell proliferation and differentiation, to survival and death. Loss of TGFbeta activity is coupled to tumor development and many other disorders. READ MORE
