  1. 1. Anatomy and taxonomy of cetrarioid lichens

    Author : Arne Thell; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; taxonomi; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; phytogeography; morphology; taxonomy; Systematic botany; pycnoconidia; ascus structures; anatomy; Systematisk botanik; cetrarioid lichens; Ascomycotina; Parmeliaceae; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Abstract : The anatomy of the cetrarioid lichens (Parmeliaceae) has been studied, and the taxonomy revised. Special attention has been paid to reproductive structures, in particular the asci and pycnoconidia. Two types of asci are recognized. The Cetraria type is narrowly clavate, bears an amyloid ring structure in the tholus, and has a small axial body. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phylogeny and Taxonomy of Childia (Acoela) : New characters for unraveling acoel phylogenies from molecules, ultrastructure, immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy

    Author : Yonas Isaak Tekle; Ulf Jondelius; Mikael Thollesson; Isabel Sanmartin; Kennet Lundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Childiidae; Childia; Paraphanostoma; Acoela; phylogeny; taxonomy; morphology; 18S rRNA; 28S rRNA; Histone H3; ultrastructure; confocal; phalloidin; immunocytochemistry; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive phylogenetic and taxonomic study of an acoel subgroup, the Childiidae. Members of this taxon are characterized by well-developed male copulatory organs with conical/cylindrical stylets. READ MORE

  3. 3. Integrative taxonomy of birds : Studies into the nature, origin and delimitation of species

    Author : George Sangster; Per G. P. Ericson; Martin Päckert; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aves; biogeography; integrative taxonomy; pluralism; ring species; speciation; species criteria; species limits; taxon chain; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Abstract : Species are the basic currency in biodiversity studies but what constitutes a species has long been controversial. A major breakthough was the insight that most systematists agree that species are segments of population lineages, and that multiple lines of evidence should be employed and integrated, a procedure called integrative taxonomy. 4. 4. Taxonomy and phylogeny of Randia (Rubiaceae, Gardenieae)

    Author : Claes G. R. Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; botany; taxonomy; phylogeny;

    Abstract : The Neotropical genera Rosenbergiodendron and Randia have been studied. Rosenbergiodendron is revised and presented in a separate paper. The other three papers concern Randia, which is partly revised and phylogenetically analysed. Rosenbergiodendron is morphologically distinct and cannot be synonymised under Randia. READ MORE
