1. Bacterial and fungal growth in soil: The effect of temperature and substrate addition
Abstract : Bacteria and fungi are the main agents in decomposition of soil organic matter. Their activity is determined by the availability and quality of substrate, especially its content of carbon, but also nitrogen and phosphorus. Other environmental factors, which affect the activity of the microbial community in soil, are temperature, moisture and pH. READ MORE

2. Threshold and Temperature Characteristics of InGa(N)As-GaAs Multiple Quantum Well Lasers
Abstract : Semiconductor lasers emitting in the 1.3 μm regime are of interest for applications in access-networks like fiber-to-the-home and radio-over-fiber systems. Suchfiber optical networks are expected to replace the copper-based access-networks currently in use due to a continuously increasing demand on user bandwidth. READ MORE

3. Wear mechanisms in sheet metal forming : Effects of tool microstructure, adhesion and temperature
Abstract : The general trend in the car body manufacturing industry is towards low-series production and reduction of press lubricants and car weight. The limited use of lubricants, in combination with the introduction of high and ultrahigh-strength sheet materials, continuously increases the demands on the forming tools. READ MORE

4. Cohesive modelling of the temperature dependence of epoxy based adhesives in Mode I and Mode II loading
Abstract : In this work, the influence of the temperature on the cohesive laws for two epoxy adhesives is studied at temperatures below the glass transition temperature for both Mode I and Mode II loading. Cohesive laws are measured experimentally under quasi-static loading conditions in the temperature range -30≤T≤80"C" . READ MORE

5. Lineshape in Quantum Cascade Lasers - Temperature, Screening and Broadening
Abstract : This dissertation deals with the optical properties of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). Studies are performed using transport calculations employing the theory of Non-Equilibrium Green's Functions, and screening is studied within the Random Phase Approximation. Focus is put on the temperature dependent effects in THz QCLs. READ MORE
