  1. 1. A Lifecycle Approach towards Building Information Management : Technical and procedural implications for the facility management and operations sector

    Author : Pouriya Parsanezhad; Väino Tarandi; Stefan Olander; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building Information Modelling; facilities management; facility management and operation; interoperability; building information management; BIM repository; workflow process; BIM; FM O;

    Abstract : A well-structured and coordinated information management practice is central to promoting efficiency in construction. Building information management encompasses authoring, interpretation, communication, coordination and storage of building information. READ MORE

  2. 2. Groundwater-Seawater Interactions : Seawater Intrusion, Submarine Groundwater Discharge and Temporal Variability and Randomness Effects

    Author : Carmen Prieto; Georgia Destouni; Vassilios Kaleris; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic engineering; Seawater intrusion; submarine groundwater discharge; coastal groundwater management; coastal zone management; temporal variability; temporal randomness; Vattenteknik; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : Fresh groundwater quality and availability in coastal areas is affected by seawater intrusion into coastal aquifers, and coastal water quality and ecosystem status may be significantly affected by groundwater pollutants that are transported into coastal waters by submarine groundwater dis-charge (SGD). This thesis uses an overall regional perspective for investigating: i) seawater intru-sion and its possible control in sustainable coastal groundwater management; ii) SGD and its relevant quantification as one interacting part among the diverse main regional pathways of freshwater and tracer/pollutant inputs from land to sea; and iii) the integrated system functioning of both i) and ii) as main components of the same coastal groundwater system. 3. 3. Bio-optics, satellite remote sensing and Baltic Sea ecosystems : Applications for monitoring and management

    Author : Therese Harvey; Susanne Kratzer; Jakob Walve; Petra Philipson; Stiig Markager; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bio-optics; Remote sensing; MERIS; Eutrophication; Baltic Sea; Monitoring; Management; WFD; MSFD; HELCOM; Chlorophyll-a; Secchi depth; Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter; Suspended Particulate Matter; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Abstract : Earth observation satellites cover large areas with frequent temporal repetition and provide us with new insight into ocean and coastal processes. Ocean colour measurements from satellite remote sensing are linked to the bio-optics, which refers to the light interactions with living organisms and dissolved and suspended constituents in the aquatic environment. 4. 4. Integrated Design-Build Management - Studying Institutional Processes to Understand Project Coordination & Performance

    Author : Lea Urup; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; coordination; institutional work; and; project performance.; design-build;

    Abstract : An increasing number of actors contributing with their skills to design-build projects increase the need for and complexity of coordination. The design-build project delivery method proposes to coordinate actors through collaborative interaction; however, even design-build projects result in poor coordination and building of relatively poor quality. 5. 5. Macroalgal community dynamics on coral reefs : Implications for management

    Author : Erik Mörk; Nils Kautsky; Magnus Nyström; Tim R. McClanahan; Stein Fredriksen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Macroalgae; Coral Reefs; Herbivory; Nutrients; Ecosystem change; Fish; Sea Urchins; East Africa; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Abstract : Although rather inconspicuous on healthy coral reefs, macroalgae form the basis of coral food webs. Today, macroalgae are generally increasing and many reefs undergo transitions from coral to macroalgal dominance resulting from e.g. enhanced nutrient loading or increased fishing. READ MORE
