  1. 1. Spin-Orbit and Spin-Spin Coupling in the Triplet State

    Author : Sathya Sai Ramakrishna Raj Perumal; Hans Ågren; Ulf Wahlgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spin-spin; Spin-Orbit; D and E parameters; ZFS; graphene; TMM; OXA; diradicals; tris 8-hydroxyquinonline aluminium; magnetic anisotropy; magnetism; triplet;

    Abstract : The underlying theory of “Spin” of an electron and its associated inter-actions causing internal fields and spectral shift to bulk-magnetism iswell established now. Our understanding of spin properties is significant andmore useful than ever before. READ MORE

  2. 2. Configurational and Magnetic Interactions in Multicomponent Systems

    Author : Björn Alling; Igor A. Abrikosov; Lars Hultman; Stefan Blügel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic interactions; Configurational thermodynamics; Curie temperature; theoretical physics; magnetism; TiAlN; TiN; AlN; CrN; TiCrN; nitrides; NiMnSb; NiCuMnSb; Heusler alloys; spintronics; half-metallic; spinodal decomposition; first-principles; ab-initio; Magnetism; Magnetism;

    Abstract : This thesis is a theoretical study of configurational and magnetic interactions in multicomponent solids. These interactions are the projections onto the configurational and magnetic degrees of freedom of the underlying electronic quantum mechanical system, and can be used to model, explain and predict the properties of materials. 3. 3. Theory of Crystal Fields and Magnetism of f-electron Systems

    Author : Massimiliano Colarieti Tosti; Olle Eriksson; Walter Temmerman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical physics; Crystal Field; Magnetism; Electronic Structure; Teoretisk fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : A parameter free approach for the calculation of the crystal field splitting of the lowest Russel-Saunders J-multiplet in f-electron systems has been developed and applied to selected compounds. The developed theory is applicable to general symmetries and is based on symmetry constrained density functional theory calculations in the local density or in the generalised gradient approximation. 4. 4. Development and application of Muffin-Tin Orbital based Green’s function techniques to systems with magnetic and chemical disorder

    Author : Andreas Kissavos; Igor Abrikosov; Hubert Ebert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical physics; Theoretical Physics; Muffin-Tin Orbital method; Calculations; Magnetism; Lloyd’s formula; Mathematical physics; Matematisk fysik;

    Abstract : Accurate electronic structure calculations are becoming more and more important because of the increasing need for information about systems which are hard to perform experiments on. Databases compiled from theoretical results are also being used more than ever for applications, and the reliability of the theoretical methods are of utmost importance. READ MORE

    Abstract : Here, I present a theoretical study, based on non-equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics and on the non-equilibrium extension to the RKKY intveraction,where I investigate the emergence of magnetism at the atomic scale in adsorbed molecular complexes hosting localized spin moments, at the stake of being probed with scanning tunneling microscopy tip, and being driven by a temperature gradient and gated by an electric field. The scanning tunneling microscopy set up is modeled as a molecular junction with a magnetic molecule embedded within it, where the molecule consists in a set of electronic levels resembling the typical s-p orbitals of a metal hydride or an organometal, and a localized spin moment resembling the magnetic unit hosted by the latter and former type of molecules mentioned.
