1. Synchronous Voltage Reversal Control of Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor
Abstract : Series compensation of transmission lines is an effectiveand cheap method of improving the power transmission systemperformance. Series capacitors virtually reduces the length ofthe line making it easier to keep all parts of the power systemrunning in synchronism and to maintain a constant voltage levelthroughout the system. 2. On Control of Grid-connected Voltage Source Converters - Mitigation of Voltage Dips and Subsynchronous Resonances
Abstract : Custom Power and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) denote the application of power electronics in distribution and transmission networks, respectively. Custom Power is the application of power electronics to improve the quality of power distribution for sensitive industrial plants. READ MORE

3. Living with cancer - Impact on cancer patient and partner
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to study different aspects of health on a population based level for persons with four common forms of cancer and their partners, and from an individual level to explore the impact on the daily life situation of living with advanced colorectal cancer for persons with cancer and their partners. Population based register data was used to compare different aspects of health among patients with colorectal, lung, breast and prostate cancer and their partners before and after the cancer diagnosis. 4. Cytogenetics, genetic diversity and phylogenetics of wild Zea species, with emphasis on Zea nicaraguensis
Abstract : Maize (Zea mays subsp. mays) is a member of the grass family Poaceae (Gramineae), together with many other important agricultural crops. The wild species commonly known as teosintes are the closest relatives of maize. READ MORE

5. Subsynchronous Resonance in Doubly-Fed Induction Generator Based Wind Farms
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to investigate the risk for instabilities due to SubSynchronousResonances (SSR) conditions in large wind farms connected to series-compensated transmissionlines. In particular, the focus is on Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based windfarms. READ MORE
