    Abstract : An efficient transfer of energy in molecular systems has proven to be of fundamental importance both in nature and industrial applications. The ability of molecules to work together forming collective excitations, so-called excitons, plays a key role in for example the extraordinary fast energy transfer involved in the first steps of photosynthesis. 2. 2. Coherent Multidimensional Spectroscopy as a Probe of System-Bath Interactions

    Author : Niklas Christensson; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nonlinear Spectroscopy Photon Echoes System-Bath Interactions Carotenoids;

    Abstract : The interaction of molecules with their environment has a profound effect on dynamics in molecular systems. System-bath interactions, or the interaction of electronic and nuclear degrees of freedom, are important in order to understand chemical reactions and transport of energy and electrons in the condensed phase. 3. 3. Radiative Properties of Rare Earth Elements - Free and Bound in Crystals

    Author : Huailiang Xu; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser Spectroscopy; Upconversion; Lifetimes; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Rare earth Elements; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Xu;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to fundamental aspects, and to spectroscopic applications of radiative properties in free atoms and ions, as well as in ions doped into crystals. Using the time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence technique, measurements of radiative lifetimes for rare earth elements have been performed in neutral Pr, Nd, Tm, and in singly ionized Sm, Er, Nd, Tm, Yb, as well as in doubly ionized Tm and Tb ions.
