1. Deep levels in SiC
Abstract : Silicon carbide (SiC) has been discussed as a promising material for high power bipolar devices for almost twenty years. Advances in SiC crystal growth especially the development of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) have enabled the fabrication of high quality material. READ MORE

2. Novel Interstitial Mg–TM (TM = Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta) Hydrides with an FCC Structure and CaNiH3 with a Perovskite Structure
Abstract : This thesis is focused on structural investigations of novel interstitial ternary alkaline-earth–transition metal hydrides formed by immiscible metals that are held together by the presence of hydrogen atoms. The contents are divided in two parts: Metastable Mg-based hydrides, in which transition-metal additives improve hydrogen storage properties; and a new Ca–Ni hydride, CaNiH3, with a perovskite structure, in which hydrogen enables a Ca:Ni =1:1 ratio although no such alloy composition exists. 3. Aspects of Structural Evolution in Cemented Carbide – Carbide Size, Shape and Stability
Abstract : Cemented carbide is a composite material used in applications like cutting tools and rock drilling inserts. The material commonly consists of WC grains embedded in a Co-rich binder phase and the material properties strongly depend on the WC grain size. READ MORE

4. Maturation of humoral immune responses : Studies on the effects of antigen type, apoptosis and age
Abstract : The humoral immune response is dependent on the formation of antibodies. Antibodies are produced by terminally differentiated B cells, plasma cells. Plasma cells are generated either directly from antigen challenged B cells, memory cells or from cells that have undergone the germinal center (GC) reaction. READ MORE

5. Magnetic solotronics near the surface of a semiconductor and a topological insulator
Abstract : Technology where a solitary dopant acts as the active component of an opto-electronic device is an emerging field known as solotronics, and bears the promise to revolutionize the way in which information is stored, processed and transmitted. Magnetic doped semiconductors and in particular (Ga, Mn)As, the archetype of dilute magnetic semiconductors, and topological insulators (TIs), a new phase of quantum matter with unconventional characteristics, are two classes of quantum materials that have the potential to advance spin-electronics technology.
