  1. 1. Physical properties of coarse particles in till coupled to bedrock composition based on new 3D image analysis method

    Author : Solomon Tafesse; Joanne Fernlund; Tore Påsse; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Three-dimensional shape; Grain size; Till lithology; Natural aggregate; Till provenance; Magnetic susceptibility of rock; Physical property of till; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : The physical properties of the coarse fraction of the till (0.4 to 20 cm) and the surface boulders have been studied at two different sites in Sweden. READ MORE

  2. 2. Marginal behaviour of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet during its final termination and deglaciation over Northeastern Germany

    Author : Joachim Albrecht; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; climatology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Physical geography; Marginal dome; Deglaciation; Clast lithology; Clast fabric; Germany; Pomeranian; Weichselian; Lithostratigraphy; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Sedimentology; Sedimentologi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents results from studies on geomorphology, lithostratigraphy and ice flow patterns during the final termination and deglaciation of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. Ice flow patterns derived from till fabrics and glaciotectonical data indicate that short-lived marginal domes had formed during the advance and the retreat of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. 3. 3. Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River region, northwest Poland

    Author : Gert Pettersson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary Geology; Kvartärgeologi; Geology; Geologi; Vistulian; Weichselian; Lithostratigraphy; Poland; Chodziez; Clast lithology; Clast fabrics; Deglaciation; Ice stream; Sedimentology; Sedimentologi; geomorphology; klimatologi; geomorfologi; climatology;

    Abstract : This thesis presents results of studies on the ice flow pattern and ice movement mechanism during the Weichselian glaciations in the middle Notec River area, NW Poland. A new lithostratigraphy of the study area has been established, based on correlation of stratigraphical position, clast lithology, fabrics and grain size composition of till units. READ MORE

  4. 4. Geochemical and sedimentary signatures of Phanerozoic events

    Author : Jane Wigforss-Lange; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geokemi; Sedimentology; Petrology; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; Carbon and oxygen isotopes; Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary; K-T boundary; Late Silurian; Events; Trace elements; Sedimentologi;

    Abstract : Geological and biological catastrophic events have occurred repeatedly in the Earth's history, leaving traces in the global stratigraphical record in the form of sedimentary features, geochemical anomalies and biotic turnovers. This thesis focuses on the sedimentological and geochemical signatures of several key events in the Phanerozoic stratigraphical record, and aims to interpret the different signals and the causal mechanisms behind each of these events. 5. 5. Early–Middle Ordovician biotic and sedimentary dynamics in the Baltoscandian paleobasin

    Author : Anders Lindskog; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ordovician; ‘orthoceratite limestone’; carbonate sedimentology; microfacies; paleoecology; paleoenvironment; paleontology; Baltoscandia;

    Abstract : The Baltoscandian region forms part of the paleocontinent Baltica, which was largely covered by a shallow epeiric sea throughout much of the Ordovician (c. 485.5–444 Ma). This ancient sea is today recorded by a thin succession of sedimentary rocks. READ MORE
