1. Methods for selection and optimisation of radiotherapy and early therapy evaluation in breast cancer
Abstract : Adjuvant systemic therapy for breast cancer, the most common malignancy in females, increases survival and this has recently also been demonstrated for postoperative radiotherapy. The aims of this study were to develop an optimised radiotherapeutic technique for postoperative treatment, to analyse the association between p53 status in node-negative patients and radiotherapy, to investigate the incidence of in-breast relapses after conservative surgery and radiotherapy and to determine if positron emissiontomography could be useful for early evaluation of polychemotherapy. 2. On perfusion estimation using ultrasound
Abstract : This thesis has the main focus on ways to improve the blood perfusion estimate, as obtained from a continuous wave Doppler system. Earlier studies have shown large temporal variations in the detected perfusion estimate, due to speckle. READ MORE

3. Computerized Alignment and Deformation Correction of Microscopic Serial Section Images of Nervous Tissue
Abstract : This thesis describes an investigation into digital techniques for image alignment and deformation correction with special reference to serial light and electron microscopic images. These techniques are applied in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of nervous tissue, especially the superficial gray matter of the brain - cortex cerebri. READ MORE

4. Optimization of sheet metal forming processes
Abstract : The potential of using simulation and optimization techniques in the design of sheet metal forming processes has been investigated. Optimization has been used in a variety of sheet metal forming applications. READ MORE

5. Optimization of sheet metal forming processes
Abstract : The aim of the present work is to find a stable and effective optimization algorithm that can be used to determine the location and size of drawbeads in sheet metal forming processes. The result from the optimization will be the restraining force that each drawbead applies to the blank. READ MORE
