  1. 1. Models Supporting Trajectory Planning in Autonomous Vehicles

    Author : Erik Ward; John Folkesson; Jonas Sjöberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Autonomous vehicles; planning; modeling; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Autonomous vehicles have the potential to drastically improve the safety, efficiency and cost of transportation. Instead of a driver, an autonomous vehicle is controlled by an algorithm, offering improved consistency and the potential to eliminate human error from driving: by far the most common cause of accidents. 2. 2. Underactuated mechanical systems : Contributions to trajectory planning, analysis, and control

    Author : Pedro La Hera; Anton Shiriaev; Ambarish Goswami; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Underactuated mechanical systems; mechanical systems with impacts; trajectory planning; periodic trajectories; orbital stabilization; walking robots; virtual holonomic constraints; transverse linearization; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Automatic Control; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Nature and its variety of motion forms have inspired new robot designs with inherentunderactuated dynamics. The fundamental characteristic of these controlled mechanicalsystems, called underactuated, is to have the number of actuators less than the number ofdegrees of freedom. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards semi-automation of forestry cranes : automated trajectory planning and active vibration damping

    Author : Szabolcs Fodor; Leonid Freidovich; Carlos Vázquez; Anton Shiriaev; Torben Ole Andersen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forestry; forwarder cranes; semi-automation; slewing actuator; automated trajectory planning; oscillations; inner boom actuator; active vibration damping; frequency estimation; input shaping control technique; H2-optimal control;

    Abstract : Forests represent one of the biggest terrestrial ecosystems of Earth, that can produce important raw renewable materials such as wood with the help of sun, air and water. To efficiently extract these raw materials, the tree harvesting process is highly mechanized in developed countries, meaning that advanced forestry machines are continuously used to fell, to process and to transport the logs and biomass obtained from the forests. 4. 4. The evolution of Town Planning Ideas, Plans and their Implementation in Kampala City 1903-2004

    Author : Fredrick Omolo-Okalebo; Inga Britt Werner; Robert Home; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; planning; planning ideas; implementation; colonial; postcolonial;

    Abstract : Through a descriptive and exploratory approach, and by review and deduction of archival and documentary resources, supplemented by empirical evidence from case studies, this thesis traces, analyses and describes the historic trajectory of planning events in Kampala City, Uganda, since the inception of modern town planning in 1903, and runs through the various planning episodes of 1912, 1919, 1930, 1951, 1972 and 1994. The planning ideas at interplay in each planning period and their expression in planning schemes vis-à-vis spatial outcomes form the major focus. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tracking and Planning for Surveillance Applications

    Author : Per Skoglar; Fredrik Gustafsson; David Törnqvist; Umut Orguner; Simon Maskell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; target tracking; sensor control; planning; surveillance; vision sensor;

    Abstract : Vision and infrared sensors are very common in surveillance and security applications, and there are numerous examples where a critical infrastructure, e.g. a harbor, an airport, or a military camp, is monitored by video surveillance systems. READ MORE
