1. On weak and strong convergence of numerical approximations of stochastic partial differential equations
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with numerical approximation of linear stochastic partial differential equations driven by additive noise. In the first part, we develop a framework for the analysis of weak convergence and within this framework we analyze the stochastic heat equation, the stochastic wave equation, and the linearized stochastic Cahn-Hilliard, or the linearized Cahn-Hilliard-Cook equation. 2. Linear Time-Varying Systems: Modeling and Reduction
Abstract : Linear time-invariant models are widely used in the control community. They often serve as approximations of nonlinear systems. For control purposes linear approximations are often good enough since feedback control systems are inherently robust to model errors. In this thesis some of the possibilities for linear time-varying modeling are studied. READ MORE

3. Count data modelling and tourism demand
Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers concerning modelling of count data and tourism demand. For three of the papers the focus is on the integer-valued autoregressive moving average model class (INARMA), and especially on the ENAR(l) model. READ MORE

4. Valuing Path-Dependent Options using the Finite Element Method, Duality Techniques, and Model Reduction
Abstract : In this thesis we develop an adaptive finite element method for pricing of several path-dependent options including barrier options, lookback options, and Asian options. The options are priced using the Black-Scholes PDE-model, and the resulting PDE:s are of parabolic type in one spatial dimension with different boundary conditions and jump conditions at monitoring dates. 5. Model Reduction for Linear Time-Varying Systems
Abstract : The thesis treats model reduction for linear time-varying systems. Time-varying models appear in many fields, including power systems, chemical engineering, aeronautics, and computational science. They can also be used for approximation of time-invariant nonlinear models. Model reduction is a topic that deals with simplification of complex models. READ MORE
