  1. 1. Artifacts and Supraphysical Worlds : A Conceptual Analysis of Religion

    Author : Johan Modée; Centrum för teologi och religionsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Philosophy of special sciences; Two-dimensionality; Supraphysical worlds; Possible worlds; Global supervenience; Physicalism; Tools; Symbols; Rituals; Representations; Proper funtion; Artifacts; Definition of religion; Conceptual analysis; Särskilda vetenskapers filosofi; religion;

    Abstract : It is a contested question in contemporary theories of religion whether the concept of religion can be defined in a sound way or not. Many theorists maintain that a universal but delimiting definition is impossible. READ MORE

  2. 2. From 2D to 3D Models of Electrical Conductivity based upon Magnetotelluric Data : Experiences from two Case Studies

    Author : Juliane Hübert; Laust B Pedersen; Ari Tryggavson; Toivo Korja; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Magnetotelluric measurements are among the few geophysical techniques capable of imaging the structure both in the shallow subsurface as well as the entire crust of the Earth. With recent technical and computational advances it has become possible to derive three-dimensional inversion models of the electrical conductivity from magnetotelluric data, thereby overcoming the problems arising from the simplified assumption of two-dimensionality in conventional two-dimensional modeling. 3. 3. Algorithmically Guided Information Visualization : Explorative Approaches for High Dimensional, Mixed and Categorical Data

    Author : Sara Johansson Fernstad; Mikael Jern; Jimmy Johansson; Jane Shaw; Matthew O. Ward; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information visualization; data mining; high dimensional data; categorical data; mixed data;

    Abstract : Facilitated by the technological advances of the last decades, increasing amounts of complex data are being collected within fields such as biology, chemistry and social sciences. The major challenge today is not to gather data, but to extract useful information and gain insights from it. READ MORE

  4. 4. Students' understandings of multiplication

    Author : Kerstin Larsson; Kerstin Pettersson; Paul Andrews; Lieven Verschaffel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Multiplication; students’ understanding; connections; multiplicative reasoning; models for multiplication; calculations; arithmetical properties; matematikämnets didaktik; Mathematics Education;

    Abstract : Multiplicative reasoning permeates many mathematical topics, for example fractions and functions. Hence there is consensus on the importance of acquiring multiplicative reasoning. READ MORE
