  1. 1. Supercritical CO2 technology in resource-effectiveproduction of functional and smart textiles

    Author : Molla Tadesse Abate; Satoko Okubayashi; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Supercritical CO2; Polyester; Functional textile; Smart textile; Antimicrobial; Antioxidant; UV protection; Textile UV-sensor; Curcumin; Chitosan; Photochromic materials; Photo-grafting; halochromic textile; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : The demand for functional and smart textiles has risen nowadays due to the lifestyle change of human beings. Along with this, the production of functional and smart textiles is consistently increasing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Enhancing UV-protection of clear coated wood by utilizing reactive UV-absorber and epoxyfunctionalized soybean oil

    Author : Sara Olsson; Mats KG Johansson; Emma Östmark; Mats Westin; Philip Evans; Minna Hakkarainen; Peter Weissenborn; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UV-protaction; wood; clear coating; UV absorber; epoxy functionalized soybean oil; grafting;

    Abstract : This work presents the development of a new pretreatment for clear coated wood, that aims to increase the photoprotection of exterior wood products, and at the same time make the system more environmentally friendly. The pretreatment comprises the reactive UV absorber 2-hydroxy-4(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-benzophenone (HEPBP), which has a primary epoxy group that can be covalently attached to the hydroxyl groups of the wood substrate. 3. 3. Enhancing UV protection of clear coated exterior wood by reactive UV absorber and epoxy functional vegetable oil

    Author : Sara Olsson; Mats Johansson; Gilles Sèbe; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Since ancient times wood has played a large role in human activities, both in terms of fuel and for construction purposes. A drawback with wood in exterior applications is, however, its susceptibility to photo-initiated degradation, caused by radiation from the sun. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular responses of plants to solar UV-B and UV-A radiation

    Author : Luis Orlando Morales; Pedro José Aphalo; Mikael Brosché; Riitta Tegelberg; Nigel Paul; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Plant responses to solar ultraviolet radiation (UV, 280-400 nm) were assessed at different molecular levels using Betula pendula Roth (silver birch) and Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) as model species in outdoor experiments to assess the possibly interacting roles of the UV-B and UV-A wavebands in acclimation to sunlight. Solar UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-A (315-400 nm) irradiance was attenuated with plastic films. READ MORE

  5. 5. Luminescent textiles using biobased products : A bioinspired approach

    Author : Sweta Iyer; Högskolan i Borås; []
