1. Reliability-based evaluation of concrete dams
Abstract : Swedish concrete dams are designed and assessed based on deterministic design using safety factors. The combination of increasing age, new methods for calculation of design floods and increasing demands by society to ensure a high level of safety, has resulted in upgrading and rebuilding needs for dams. 2. Automated performance monitoring of concrete dams
Abstract : The Swedish hydropower industry operates a large number of power plants and dams geographically spread over the country. The level of safety of a specific dam is to a large extent determined during the design and construction phases that in the case of Swedish hydropower plants took place several decades ago. READ MORE

3. Reliability-based Assessment of Concrete Dam Stability
Abstract : Risk management is increasingly used in dam safety and includes risk analysis, risk evaluation and risk reduction. Structural Reliability Analysis (SRA) is a probabilistic methodology that may be used in the risk assessment process. READ MORE

4. On the long-term behaviour of tension loaded piles in natural soft soils
Abstract : The complexity and scale of new infrastructure projects have challenged the current geotechnical design practice. Urban areas are growing at a fast pace in the horizontal and vertical direction, with taller buildings and deeper underground constructions in already densely populated areas. READ MORE

5. Pressure, temperature and time constraints on tectonic models for southwestern Sweden
Abstract : In this work, a number of key localities have been investigated in detail in order to provide precise constraints on models for the tectonic evolution of southern Sweden. The new data presented in this thesis show that there are large differences in terms of pre-Sveconorwegian tectonic evolution between the Eastern and Median-Western Segments situated on either side of the Mylonite Zone, a major shear zone as well as a structural and lithological boundary.
