  1. 21. Localized carcinoma of the prostate : Aspects on screening, staging, and surgical treatment

    Author : Knud V. Pedersen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The management of localized carcinoma of the prostate is controversial.Opinions vary about whether screening is appropriate for this particular cancer, about the accuracy of pretreatment staging of the primary tumour, and about the value of potentially curable treatment such as radical prostatectomy. 2. 22. Knee flexion contracture and flexed knee gait in children with cerebral palsy

    Author : Evelina Pantzar-Castilla; Jacques Riad; Per Wretenberg; Piotr Michno; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebral palsy; knee flexion contracture; 2- and 3-dimensional gait analysis; video assessment; gait; flexed knee gait; functional measures; orthopedic surgery;

    Abstract : Cerebral palsy (CP) is considered the most common cause of physical disability in childhood. Most children will walk, but gait often deteriorates with growth and development. READ MORE

  3. 23. Genetic Determinants of Dyslipidemia

    Author : Tibor V Varga; Genetisk och molekylär epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetic epidemiology; Genetic polymorphism; dyslipidaemia; Cholesterol; Triglyceride; Genetic risk; genetic risk score; Single nucleotide polymorphism; Prediction; Gene-environment interactions; Randomized controlled trial; prospective cohort studies; Observational study; GLACIER Study; Diabetes Prevention Program;

    Abstract : Dyslipidemia is a chronic deviation from normal blood lipid levels that can lead to atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases; dyslipidemia and its sequelae are caused by the complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. Although circulating concentrations of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) have a strong genetic underpinning, not much is known about the genetic factors that affect long-term deteriorations in lipid concentrations. 4. 24. Appendicitis in Children. Clinical, diagnostic and pathogenic factors

    Author : MARTIN SALÖ; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: Appendicitis is the most common disease requiring abdominal surgery in children. However, the diagnosis of pediatric appendicitis is still a challenge, resulting in perforation and negative appendectomies, especially in girls and young children. Further, the pathogenesis of acute appendicitis is not known. READ MORE

  5. 25. Characterization and Evolution of Transmembrane Proteins with Focus on G-protein coupled receptors in Pre-vertebrate Species

    Author : Karl J. V. Nordström; Helgi B. Schiöth; Robert Fredriksson; Teresa Attwood; Uppsala universitet; []
