  1. 6. The MUC2 mucin -A network in the intestinal protective mucus

    Author : Malin E V Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : mucus; Muc2; trimer; proteomics; intestine; colitis; DSS;

    Abstract : The intestine is covered by mucus that is the first line of defence of the epithelium. The main structural component of the intestinal mucus is the MUC2 mucin. This is a large glycoprotein with two long and heavily O-glycosylated mucin domains. READ MORE

  2. 7. Clades in the "higher land bird assemblage"

    Author : Ulf. S. Johansson; Scott V. Eswards; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Birds; Fåglar; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes the results of several phylogenetic studies of birds included in the “higher land bird assemblage” (Anomalogonatae sensu Beddard 1898). The phylogenetic analyses are primarily based on gene sequences obtained from the nuclear genome (exons of the c-myc and RAG-1 genes and an intron of the myoglobin gene). READ MORE

  3. 8. Towards forecasting epigenetic repression

    Author : Moa J. Lundkvist; Yuri B. Schwartz; Ludvig Lizana; Peter V. Kharchenko; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; epigenetics; Polycomb; PRC1; PRC2; H3K27 methylation; Monte-Carlo simulation; chromatin structure; Drosophila; molekylär bioteknik inst f molekylärbiologi ; molecular biotechnology dept of molecular biology ;

    Abstract : Multicellular organisms form many different cell types from one genome, which requires differential gene activity. The Polycomb system upholds the correct gene expression programs by epigenetically silencing genes that encode critical transcription regulators. READ MORE

  4. 9. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas : With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection

    Author : Mia Thorsélius; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Christer Sundström; Anders Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma; Immunoglobulin; V gene; somatic hypermutation; antigen selection; quantitative PCR; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load. 5. 10. Gene and Protein Profiling of the Preeclamptic Placenta

    Author : Magnus Centlow; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antigen presentation; APOA1; hemoglobin; immunohistochemistry; in situ hybridization; Microarray; 2D-PAGE; uterine artery bilateral notching;

    Abstract : Aims State-of-the-art methodology was used to screen and profile the placenta, gene and protein expression, for changes related to preeclampsia (PE) and cases with increased resistance in the uterine arteries. Women with increased resistance in the uterine arteries have increased risk of developing PE. READ MORE
