  1. 1. Supporting evidence-based design using lighting simulations : A framework for lighting simulation of visual comfort in building design

    Author : Anahita Davoodi; Myriam Aries; Peter Johansson; Thorbjörn Laike; John Mardaljevic; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lighting quality; visual comfort; lighting simulation; evidence-based design; field study; post-occupancy evaluation; Ljuskvalitet; visuell komfort; ljussimulering; evidensbaserad design; fältstudie; brukarutvärderingar;

    Abstract : This research aims to integrate lighting simulation into the evidence-based design process for achieving improved lighting outcomes in built environments with a particular emphasis on visual comfort analysis in office settings. The objectives of the study include 1) understanding the current usage of lighting simulation tools, learning designers’ experiences' and needs, 2) providing a conceptual framework to integrate the use of lighting simulation in the evidence-based design (EBD) process, 3) testing the usage of the conceptual framework (named EBD-SIM) through two field studies. 2. 2. Jill Bilcock : Revealing the Invisible Artist. Recognising the creative contributions of film editors to filmmaking through biographical documentary film

    Author : Axel Grigor; Patricia FitzSimons; Nico Meissner; Joanna Callaghan; Kath Dooley; Högskolan Dalarna; []

    Abstract : Film editing is recognised as the conceptual innovation that, at the dawn of the twentieth century, helped transform the novelty of moving images into cinema. Despite this acknowledgment, misconceptions about the art form linger. READ MORE

  3. 3. Visual and tactile neglect

    Author : Haukur Hjaltason; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Visual neglect; tactile neglect; premotor neglect; perceptual neglect; bisection tasks; darkness; tactile exploration; right hand use; right hemisphere activation; three-dimensionality; figure-ground contrast; chronic;

    Abstract : Neglect patients typically fail to report, respond, or orient to information presented in locations further away from the side of the brain lesion. Neglect is most often reported after acute stroke, and is more severe and more frequent after right hemisphere damage. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of visual load on auditory processing

    Author : Malina Szychowska; Stefan Wiens; Mats E. Nilsson; Maria Larsson; Inga Griskova-Bulanova; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : In daily life, people need to be able to focus on a task while ignoring any task-irrelevant background noise. For example, people who work in an open-space office may have to work on a report while ignoring the background talk among co-workers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Visual Management - on Communication in Product Development Organizations

    Author : Ludvig Lindlöf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Product development management; Boundary object; Visual management; Information processing capability; Task communication;

    Abstract : Product development implies a need for information processing capability due to its uncertain and ambiguous nature. Uncertainty is troublesome as it limits an organization’s ability to plan for, and make decisions about, the activities that need to be made in order to reach the objectives of the organization.
