1. Anaerobic treatment of wastewater in a UASB reactor
Abstract : The anaerobic treatment of waste water has been studied with an emphasis on the Up- flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor. A model to describe the processes occurring in a UASB reactor was developed and an experimental study of the anaerobic wastewater treatment systems in Nicaragua was also performed. READ MORE

2. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches
Abstract : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate. 3. Comparative analysis of pathogen occurrence in wastewater : management strategies for barrier function and microbial control
Abstract : This project was initiated to fill knowledge gaps on the occurrence of pathogens in different streams of wastewater, e.g. greywater and domestic wastewater. READ MORE

4. Anaerobic Treatment of Agricultural Residues and Wastewater - Application of High-Rate Reactors
Abstract : The production of methane via anaerobic digestion of agricultural residues and industrial wastewater would benefit society by providing a clean fuel from renewable feedstocks. This would reduce the use of fossil-fuel-derived energy and reduce environmental impact, including global warming and pollution. READ MORE

5. Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor : modelling
Abstract : Anaerobic treatment is widely used around the world as a biological stage in both domestic and industrial wastewater-treatment plants. The two principal advantages of anaerobic over aerobic treatment are the production of biogas, which can be used as fuel, and the lower rate of biomass production, which results in lower maintenance costs for the plant.
