  1. 16. Quadruped robot control and variable leg transmissions

    Author : Johan Ingvast; Jan Wikander; Harry Dankowicz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; walking robot; quadruped; walking; crawl; trot; passively variable transmission; PVT; variable transmission; continuously variable transmission; velocity ratio; torque ratio; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis regards walking of quadruped robots, and particularly the walking of the Warp1 robot. The motivation for the robot is to provide a platform for autonomous walking in rough terrain. The thesis contains six papers ranging from development tools to actuation of robot legs. READ MORE

  2. 17. Health Maintenance in Very Old Age : Medical Conditions, Functional Outcome and Nutritional Status

    Author : Huan-Ji Dong; Jan Marcusson; Ewa Wressle; Mitra Unosson; Miia Kivipelto; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; very old; multimorbidity; health service use; physical function; activities of daily living; obesity; body composition;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to provide better understanding of the underlying factors related to health maintenance in very old people, with a focus on medical conditions, functional outcome and nutritional status. Data were gathered from the ELSA 85 project (Elderly in Linköping Screening Assessment). READ MORE

  3. 18. Human body composition. Reference data and anthropometric equations. The metabolic syndrome and risk

    Author : Ingrid Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : adults; anthropometry; atherosclerotic morbidity; body composition; body fat; cardiovascular disease; DEXA; dual energy x-ray absorptiometry; fat-free mass; FFM; humans; metabolic syndrome; morbidity; mortality; prediction equations; randomly selected sample; reference data; sagittal trunk diameter; TBK; total body potassium; waist circumference;

    Abstract : The determination of body composition is a key to the understanding of the relation between obesity and disease. In order to evaluate body composition data, reference values are needed. Since methods with high validity and reproducibility are expensive and often time consuming, simpler techniques based on anthropometry are needed. READ MORE

  4. 19. Synthesis and Characterization of Functional Polymers Based on Trimethylolpropane Trimethacrylate and Glycidyl Methacrylate

    Author : Maria Walenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose derivative; trimethylolpropane; gels; compression; separation; pore surface; trimethacrylate; Copolymers;

    Abstract : Copolymers of trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were prepared with various monomer-to-solvent ratios, GMA to TRIM ratios and with various types of porogens. These parameters affected the inner morphology of the polymers and various pore surface areas (100-500 m2/g) and pore size distributions were obtained. READ MORE

  5. 20. Overweight in relation to allergic disease in childhood and adolescence

    Author : Sandra Ekström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The prevalences of childhood overweight and allergic diseases have increased in parallel during the last decades. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the associations between overweight (maternal and childhood) and allergic diseases, as well as lung function, throughout childhood up to adolescence.
