1. Chromatographic Studies of Solute Interactions with Immobilized Red Blood Cells and Biomembranes
Abstract : Specific and non-specific interactions of solutes with immobilized biomembranes were studied using chromatographic methods. Liposomes, proteoliposomes and red blood cell (RBC) membrane vesicles were immobilized by a freeze-thawing procedure, whereas whole RBCs were adsorbed in the gel beds using electrostatic interaction, binding to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) or the streptavidin-biotin interaction. 2. Isolation of caveolae using affinity two-phase partitioning
Abstract : The intention of this work was to establish alternative purification methods to obtain highly purified caveolae from various tissues. In order to isolate caveolae, sufficiently pure plasma membranes are needed. READ MORE

3. Cervicothalamic tract termination and its cortical connections: anatomical studies in cats and ferrets
Abstract : The termination and cortical connections of the cervicothalamic tract (CTT) were studied by neuroanatomical tract tracing techniques in cats and ferrets. After injections of wheat germ agglutinin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate or biotinylated dextran amine (BDA) into the cat lateral cervical nucleus (LCN), the most abundant CTT termination is present in the ventral posterior lateral nucleus (VPL). 4. Central projections of sensory innervation of cranial vessels
Abstract : Primary headaches (e.g. migraine and cluster headache), the symptoms of which is associated with cranial vascular activity, is likely to be dependent on a primary central nervous system dysfunction. READ MORE

5. Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinases in plasma membranes and Affinity partitioning of liposomes: a model system for membrane purification
Abstract : Polyphosphoinositides, the different phosphorylated variants of the phospholipid phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns), are used in a wide array of intracellular mechanisms in eukaryotic cells. The phosphorylation of PtdIns at carbon D4, catalyzed by phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase, is an important step in the synthesis of several of these molecules. READ MORE
