1. Aspects of Yang-Mills Theory : Solitons, Dualities and Spin Chains
Abstract : One of the still big problems in the Standard Model of particle physics is the problem of confinement. Quarks or other coloured particles have never been observed in isolation. Quarks are only observed in colour neutral bound states. The strong interactions are described using a Yang-Mills theory. READ MORE

2. 7D supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on toric and hypertoric manifolds
Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and three research papers in the general area of geometry and physics. In particular we study 7D supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and related topics in toric and hypertoric geometry. Yang-Mills theory is used to describe particle interactions in physics but it also plays an important role in mathematics. READ MORE

3. Yang-Mills Theory in Gauge-Invariant Variables and Geometric Formulation of Quantum Field Theories
Abstract : In Part I we are dealing with effective description of Yang-Mills theories based on gauge-invarint variables. For pure Yang-Mills we study the spin-charge separation varibles. The dynamics in these variables resembles the Skyrme-Faddeev model. READ MORE

4. Perturbative Aspects of Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory on T3
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with perturbative aspects of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in a space-time of the form T3xR, in the regime where the gauge coupling is weak. Wave functions of vacuum states of super Yang-Mills theoriesare supported on the moduli space of flat connections, and we consider a semi-classical treatment of such theories, obtained by expanding the fields around some normalizable zero energy background field configuration. 5. Some Aspects of Non-Perturbative Quantum Field Theory
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to describe some different ways in which non-perturbative methods enter in quantum field theory. In the thesis such methods enter in 1+1-dimensional theories: various Yang-Mills theories and electrodynamics. It also enters when treating charged bosons or fermions interacting with an external, classical field. READ MORE
