  1. 1. Cadmium Free Buffer Layers and the Influence of their Material Properties on the Performance of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cells

    Author : Adam Hultqvist; Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Tobias Törndahl; Marika Edoff; Takashi Minemoto; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cu In; Ga Se2; Solar cells; Thin film; Buffer layer; Window layer; ZnO; Zn O; S ; Zn; Mg O; Zn-Sn-O; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : CdS is conventionally used as a buffer layer in Cu(In,Ga)Se2, CIGS, solar cells. The aim of this thesis is to substitute CdS with cadmium-free, more transparent and environmentally benign alternative buffer layers and to analyze how the material properties of alternative layers affect the solar cell performance. 2. 2. Simulation of Phosphorus, Zinc and Cadmium Mass Flow in Dairy Farming Systems

    Author : Anna-Karin Modin Edman; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; Miljöstudier; Environmental studies; management; Cd; Zn; P; mass balance; system analysis; simulation;

    Abstract : A simulation model, FARMFLOW, was developed for the calculation of phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) stocks, flows and balances in different parts of a dairy farming system. The simulated continuous change in element stocks within the farming system enables evaluation of the long-term effects of management practices. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neutrophils versus Pathogenic Fungi : through the magnifying glass of nutritional immunity

    Author : Maria Joanna Niemiec; Constantin F. Urban; Bernhard Hube; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neutrophils; Candida albicans; nutritional immunity; metallome; Zn; Fe;

    Abstract : Neutrophils are among the first white blood cells recruited to the site of infection once microbial pathogens enter the host organism. At site, they perform a well-orchestrated chain of processes that aims to kill the microbial invader. Most prominent, neutrophils engulf microbes to inactivate them intracellularly, a process called phagocytosis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry : Exploring the Limits of Different Sample Preparation Strategies

    Abstract : This thesis describes two different sample preparation strategies for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), and their ability regarding multi element quantification in complex samples. Sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy were investigated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Measurements of High-Precision Atomic Data with Applications to Astrophysics and Cosmology

    Author : Maria Aldenius; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic data; Ca; Cr; Fe; Mn; Mg; metal-poor stars; fine-structure constant; Fourier transform spectroscopy; nebulae; oscillator strengths; spectroscopy; wavelengths; Ti; Zn; Astronomy; Astronomi; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; rymdvetenskap; space research; cosmic chemistry; kosmisk kemi; branching fractions;

    Abstract : Investigations of astrophysical spectra require accurate atomic data, such as wavelengths and transition probabilities. This thesis provides high-precision atomic data for astrophysical and cosmological applications. The measurements have been carried out using Fourier transform spectrometry on light produced in a hollow cathode light source. READ MORE
