  1. 1. Pulmonary Drug Absorption : In vitro and in vivo investigations of drug absorption across the lung barrier and its relation to drug physicochemical properties

    Author : Ann Tronde; Gerrit Borchard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; lung; pulmonary; drug delivery; inhalation; drug transport; pharmacokinetics; absorption; bioavailability; drug metabolism; preclinical; rat; in vivo; isolated and perfused lung; Caco-2; nebulization catheter; aerosol; physicochemical; peptide; efflux; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Abstract : Although, pulmonary drug delivery is a well established means for targeting of drugs to the lungs for the treatment of respiratory diseases as well as for the systemic delivery of volatile anesthetic agents, drug absorption kinetics in the lung have not been subjected to extensive research. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate drug absorption characteristics of the lung barrier, using the isolated and perfused rat lung model and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies in rats. 2. 2. Moisture transport and fixation in porous materials at high moisture levels

    Author : Mårten Janz; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building construction; water retention curve; diffusivity; suction; Moisture transport; moisture fixation; absorption; capillary transport; byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis focuses on developing methods of measuring moisture properties at high moisture levels. Paper I deal with a new method of measuring moisture diffusivity at high moisture levels. Papers II to IV present methods of measuring moisture storage capacity as well as results from such measurements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Light scattering and absorption in tissue - models and measurements

    Author : Annika M K Enejder; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tissue optical properties; Light absorption; Fluorescence spectroscopy; Atomic and molecular physics; NIR spectroscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Enejder; Light scattering; Atom- och molekylärfysik;

    Abstract : In this work a number of theoretical models, describing light propagation in matter, have been applied to and developed for the examination of tissue. The aim was to model the light scattering and absorption in tissue in order to improve the understanding of underlying mechanisms of laser-based diagnostics and treatment modalities utilised for cancer and cardiovascular diseases. 4. 4. Lignin Exraction from Black Liquor: Precipitation, filtration and washing

    Author : Henrik Wallmo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Lignin; Filtration; Separation; Black liquor; Precipitation; Washing.; Absorption;

    Abstract : Lignin extraction is a very interesting option for pulp mills today. Lignin is one major component, present as a dissolved organic compound, in black liquor, which is a by-product in the alkaline pulping of wood. After the digestion of wood chips, the black liquor is separated from the cellulose. READ MORE

  5. 5. Purchasing Power and Purchasing Strategies - Insights From the Humanitarian Sector

    Author : Ala Pazirandeh; Teknisk logistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Humanitarian logistics; Purchainsg; Resource dependency theory; Buyer-supplier power;

    Abstract : In this dissertation, we discuss how buyers practice purchasing strategies in an asymmetric power situation favoring suppliers, and how their purchasing strategies practiced impact their purchasing power and buyer-supplier relationships. Organizations enter exchange relationships to access required resources not produced internally, and are exposed to uncertainty from not being able to fully control or predict flow of resources.
