    Author : Arben Mullai; Teknisk logistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; maritime transport; risk; accidents and incidents; Teknik; validation; Technological sciences; analysis; Dangerous goods; hazardous materials hazmat ; Keywords - Vol. I; packaging; management; assessment; framework; technique; validation.; marine environment; Keywords - Vol. II;

    Abstract : Abstract - Vol. I In this Volume of the thesis, which consists of two volumes, a risk analysis framework for application in the maritime transport system of packaged dangerous goods (PDG) is presented. In many countries, dangerous goods risks have been ranked high among public concerns. READ MORE

  2. 2. Serious occupational injuries by "accidents" : possible means of prevention and injury mitigation

    Author : Torgny Jarl; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Occupational; accident; injury; prevention; personal safety equipment; emergency action; commercial vehicles;

    Abstract : An analysis of the circumstances preceding severe occupational injuries as a consequence of impacts has shown that well-known risks are of great importance in 75 per cent of the cases. This indicates that the subjective cause "neglect" is common. The negligence is distributed to the same extent among employers as among employees. READ MORE

  3. 3. Head Injuries in Car-to-Pedestrian Accidents - Investigation of Head Impact Dynamics, Injury Mechanisms and Countermeasures

    Author : Jianfeng Yao; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; accident analysis; head injury; head protection; mathematical simulation; accident reconstruction; injury mechanism; Pedestrian accident;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to investigate head impact dynamics and to establish risk functions for head injuries by mathematical reconstructions of real-world car-to-pedestrian accidents. Furthermore, an attempt was made to develop an approach for the design and evaluation of head-protective devices. READ MORE

  4. 4. Identification and evaluation of slip and fall risk on ice and snow

    Author : Chuansi Gao; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Work Environment; Industriell produktionsmiljö;

    Abstract : Roads and pavements covered with ice and snow during winter in the Nordic and other cold regions are slippery, which result in the prevalence of slip and fall accidents among not only the public, but also outdoor workers. Literature and injury statistics revealed that the most frequently specified contributory factor for occupational slip, trip and fall accidents in Sweden is snow and ice. READ MORE

  5. 5. Crash Compatibility between Roadside Infrastructure and Passenger Vehicles: Improving the Geometric and Structural Compatibility to Reduce Fatalities

    Author : Weijia Wu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; crash simulations.; ditches; accident analysis; crash compatibility; guardrails; roadside safety;

    Abstract : Roadside accidents cause a significant number of fatalities each year in the world. To reducethis type of accident, roadside infrastructure needs to be investigated to improve protection todifferent kinds of passenger vehicles during crashes. READ MORE
