  1. 1. Node-Level Fault Tolerance for Embedded Real-Time Systems

    Author : Joakim Aidemark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fault injection; error recovery; reliability calculations; time redundancy; real-time kernels; error detection; analytical coverage estimation; distributed real-time systems;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with cost-effective design and validation of fault tolerant distributed real-time systems. Such systems play an increasingly important role in embedded applications such as automotive and aerospace systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Acoustical Measurements of Material Nonlinearity and Nonequilibrium Recovery

    Author : Kristian Haller; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear acoustics; nondestructive testing; activation density; slow dynamics; nonequilibrium recovery; resonance frequency; nonlinear wave modulation spectroscopy; harmonic generation; trapped modes; open resonator; sweep rate; constant strain sweep;

    Abstract : A damaged material or a material with non perfect atomic geometry, dislocations or cracks, exhibits two types of characteristic responses to acoustic excitations. First is the fast nonlinear dynamics response that is present as long as the material is excited. As soon as the excitation stops the response disappear. READ MORE

  3. 3. Recycling and durability of PVC materials focusing on pre- and post-consumer wastes from building products

    Author : Nazdaneh Yarahmadi; SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut *(2016-12-31) SP – Sveriges Tekniska Forskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accelerated ageing; Activation energy; Annealing; Cables; Dehydrochlorination; Dismantling; DSC; Elongation at break; Emissions; Energy recovery; Flooring; Heat ageing; Lifetime; Orientation; Physical ageing; Plasticised PVC; Plasticiser depletion; Profiles; Recycling; Repeated extrusion; Residual stability; Rigid PVC; Sustainable building; Chlorination; Degradation; Durability; Mechanical properties; Plastic building materials; Plasticizers; Stabilizers agents ; Tensile properties; Molecular level; Polyvinyl chlorides;

    Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials. 4. 4. Physiological recovery from night-call duty - a field study of physicians

    Author : Birgitta Malmberg; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HRV; Acitwatch; night-call; anaesthesiologist; sleep; working time;

    Abstract : Abstract Physicians’ work on night-call entails long and stressful working hours with high demands and disrupted sleep. Incomplete recovery is considered to be the most important link between acute physiological stress reactions, shift work and chronic health effects. READ MORE

  5. 5. Landfill mining approach for resource recovery from glass dumps into the circular economy

    Author : Richard Mutafela; William Hogland; Lennart Mårtensson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Resource recovery; landfill mining; hazardous waste; hydrometallurgical extraction; geophysical mapping; circular economy; Återvinning av resurser; gruvdrift; farligt avfall; hydrometallurgisk utvinning; geofysisk kartläggning; cirkulär ekonomi; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Abstract : Landfills and open dumps have been the most cost-effective waste disposal option, resulting in over 500,000 landfills and dumps in the EU alone. They pose significant environmental and health threats due to emission of toxic gases and release of persistent contaminants to soil and groundwater, triggering a considerable global economic impact annually.
