  1. 1. Physical activity assessed by accelerometry in children

    Author : Andreas Nilsson; Karin Piehl-Aulin; Ulf Ekelund; Gareth Stratton; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; activity patterns; adolescents; health promotion; activity monitor; sedentary; Medicine; Medicin; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Abstract : Physical activity (PA) is likely to constitute an important aspect of health-related behaviour in growing children. However, the knowledge on levels and patterns of PA in children is limited, due to the difficulty of precisely measuring this complex behaviour in normal daily living. READ MORE

  2. 2. Activity Linking in Industrial Networks

    Author : Lars Bankvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adjustments; networks; propagations; activities; activity linking; interaction; activity links; interdependencies;

    Abstract : The ways in which industrial activities are undertaken and linked have profound implications for organizational performance. The linking of activities is therefore a phenomenon which, in various shapes and forms, has been of ample concern to both academic scholars and industrial practitioners. READ MORE

  3. 3. Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 in Platelets - Studies of Synthesis, Activity, and Glycosylation Patterns

    Author : Helén Brogren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : PAI-1; platelets; plasma; fibrinolysis; synthesis; polymorphism; glycosylation; activity; platelet mRNA;

    Abstract : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) is the main physiological inhibitor of tissue-type plasminogen activator. Thus PAI-1 plays an important role in decreasing the fibrinolytic activity in human blood. PAI-1 is present in high concentrations in platelets and also in low concentrations in plasma, but the source of plasma PAI-1 is not known. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sceletal muscle characteristics and physical activity patterns in COPD

    Abstract : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Besides abnormities within the respiratory system COPD is also associated with effects outside the lungs, so called systemic effects. READ MORE

  5. 5. Gait speed, physical activity, cognitive function and dementia : associations in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies and validity of a physical activity questionnaire in very old people

    Author : Jerry Öhlin; Annika Toots; Birgitta Olofsson; Håkan Littbrand; Stefan Söderberg; Anna Cristina Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gait speed; cognitive function; dementia; physical activity; aged 80 and over; physiotherapy; fysioterapi;

    Abstract : Dementia and cognitive impairment are leading causes of disability in older people (≥ 65 years) and gait speed decline seem to be an early indicator of these conditions, sometimes preceding clinical symptoms. Dementia may be delayed or prevented with management of risk factors, such as low physical activity. READ MORE
