  1. 1. Methodology for hemoglobin adduct measurement : Fetal exposures to acrylamide and other genotoxic agents

    Author : Hans von Stedingk; Margareta Törnqvist; Per Rydberg; Christian Lindh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : There is increasing evidence that exposure to toxic chemicals during the prenatal period constitute a higher health risk than exposure during adulthood. To characterize exposure and identify risk factors, sensitive methods for analysis of chemicals in vivo with biomarker methods are needed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biomarkers of internal exposure/dose : Methods to quantify adducts to protein and DNA by LC/MS studied with benzo[a]pyrene and isocyanates

    Author : Emelie Westberg; Margareta Törnqvist; Kimmo Peltonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomarker; PAH; serum albumin; adduct; DNA; isocyanate; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on methods for quantification by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) of specific biomarkers for internal dose of chemicals which induce toxicity through their electrophilic reactivity. In vivo such compounds are short-lived, and could feasibly be measured as their reaction products (adducts) with biomacromolecules. READ MORE

  3. 3. Molecular mechanisms and complete antigen formation in allergic contact dermatitis

    Author : Stefan Ahlfors; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hypersensitivity; adduct; immune response.; Allergy; hapten;

    Abstract : Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a common T cell mediated skin disease. Small reactive organic molecules called haptens induce ACD. Haptens are not recognized by themselves, but need to bond to endogenous proteins in the skin, and processed further into complete antigens. Antigen specific T cells then recognize the resulting antigen. READ MORE

  4. 4. Extraction of ionizable organic compounds with special emphasis on the use of adduct-forming agents

    Author : Merete Schröder-Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  5. 5. 32P-postlabelling analysis of complex DNA adducts in human tissues

    Author : Ke Yang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Complex DNA adducts in humans originate from exogenous and endogenous sources. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a large group of chemicals including many potent carcinogens. PAHs are ubiquitously present in the environment and PAH-DNA adducts have been extensively studied in humans. READ MORE
