    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ventricular fibrillation; heart arrest; incidence; duration; survival; bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation; adrenalin; intubation.;

    Abstract : Between Jan 1990 and May 1995 the Swedish Cardiac Arrest Registry collected and analysed 14,065 standardised reports on cardiac arrests. The reports emanated from approximately half of Sweden's ambulance districts, which cover five of Sweden's 8.7 million inhabitants. READ MORE

  2. 2. Amnesia and emotional arousal

    Author : Sven-Åke Christianson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Amnesia; memory; psychological trauma; emotional arousal; adrenalin;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present thesis was twofold. First, to study the role of emotional arousal in memory processes, and secondly, to relate this concept to empirical findings of amnesia. In both clinical and experimental settings it has been observed that remembering is impaired for events occurring prior to, and after a traumatic critical event. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development and regulation of alveolar fluid clearance in the guinea pig

    Author : Andreas Norlin; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxytocin-induced preterm labor; IRDS; fetal lung fluid; preterm lung development; amiloride-sensitive sodium channels; beta-adrenergic stimulation; alveolar epithelium; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : Alveolar fluid clearance is driven by active absorption of Na+ across the alveolar epithelium. Development and hormonal regulation of alveolar fluid clearance over 1 hour was studied by instillation of a protein-containing, isosmolar fluid into lungs of fetal, newborn, and adult guinea pigs. 5. 5. Development of central catecholaminergic neuronal systems in the lizard Anolis sagrei

    Author : Agneta Rehn; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; double labelling; immunohistochemistry; interplexiform cells; amacrine cells; catecholamines; development; retina; Reptiles; brain; Zoology; Zoologi;

    Abstract : Catecholamines, comprising the neurotransmitters dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (A) are synthesized by specific enzymes (tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), dopamine ß-hydroxylase (DBH), phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase (PNMT)) in the central nervous system. The development and distribution of different catecholaminergic systems have been described in both the brain and retina of the lizard Anolis sagrei. READ MORE
