1. Biosensor surface chemistry for oriented protein immobilization and biochip patterning
Abstract : This licentiate thesis is focused on two methods for protein immobilization to biosensor surfaces for future applications in protein microarray formats. The common denominator is a surface chemistry based on a gold substrate with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of functionalized alkanethiolates. READ MORE

2. Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Copper(I) Complexes with Hard Donor Ligands
Abstract : Syntheses and crystal structures of nine new copper(I) complexes and one novel mixed-valence copper(I/II) complex are reported: two homoleptic phenoxides and eight complexes with N-donor ligands. The copper(I) and the copper(I/II) phenoxide complexes have been prepared by reactions between mesitylcopper(I) and 2-allyl-6-methylphenol in toluene. READ MORE

3. Homogeneous and heterogeneous Cp*Ir(III) catalytic systems : Mechanistic studies of redox processes catalyzed by bifunctional iridium complexes, and synthesis of iridium-functionalized MOFs
Abstract : The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to investigate and develop catalytic processes mediated by iridium(III) complexes. By understanding the mechanisms, the weaknesses of the designed catalysts can be identified and be overcome in the following generation. READ MORE

4. Self-adaptable catalysts : Importance of flexibility and applications in asymmetric catalysis
Abstract : The topic of this thesis is the design and synthesis of biaryl-based self adaptableligands for asymmetric metal catalysis. The results discussed in papers I-III are covered, together with some unpublished results concerning substrate-adaptable catalysts. A general survey of self-adaptable catalysts is presented first. 5. Design, Synthesis, Mechanistic Rationalization and Application of Asymmetric Transition-Metal Catalysts
Abstract : This thesis describes mechanistic studies, rational ligand design, and synthesis of asymmetric transition metal catalysts. The topics addressed concerned [Papers I-VII]:[I] The asymmetric addition of diethyl zinc to N-(diphenylphosphinoyl)benzalimine catalyzed by bicyclic 2-azanorbornyl-3-methanols was studied. READ MORE
