  1. 1. Wear and Fixation of the acetabular component : in vivo evaluation of different polyethylenes and modes of fixation in total hip arthroplasty

    Author : Stephan Maximilian Röhrl; Kjell Gunnar Nilsson; Bo Nivbrant; Lars Nordsletten; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; total hip arthroplasty; acetabular component; wear; fixation; osteolysis; Radiostereometry; RSA; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Abstract : Polyethylene wear and micromotion of the implant play an important role in multifactorial etiology of osteolysis leading to aseptic loosening of the acetabular components. Despite excellent results in primary total hip arthoplasty in a 10-15 year perspective there are still unsolved problems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hip revisions with impacted morselized allograft bone and cement. Patient outcome, prosthetic fixation and risks

    Author : Ewald Ornstein; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; NHP; patient outcome; cement; allograft; morselized; impacted; bone transplantation; hip; Arthroplasty; revision; complications; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : 144 consecutive hip revisions performed with morselized allograft bone and cement were followed up to 5 years after surgery. In 49 hips patient outcome was evaluated with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire and Charnley hip scores in 47 hips prosthetic fixation was evaluated with radiostereometry (RSA)and in all 144 hips risks and complications were recorded using a prspective protocol. 3. 3. Acetabular Revisions. Risk Factors and Prediction of Re-revision

    Author : Maziar Mohaddes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis; Hip; Register studies; Radiostereometry; Acetabular revision; Trabecular metal;

    Abstract : Hip replacement is a successful intervention when treating patients with hip osteoarthritis. Approximately 10% of all patients undergoing primary hip replacement surgery require further surgical interventions (revisions) during their lifetime. Acetabular component (cup) failure is the most common reason for a revision. READ MORE

  4. 4. Factors affecting cup wear and migration in total hip arthroplasty

    Author : Halldor Bergvinsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; THA; THR; arthroplasty; osteoarthritis; Hip surgery; RSA; Radiostereometry; wear; cup wear; polyethylene; HXLPE; VEPE; cup migration; HOOS;

    Abstract : Höftprotesoperationer har blivit en mycket vanlig operation med generellt goda resultat. Allt fler och allt yngre patienter opereras vilket ställer högre krav på att höftprotesen fungerar bättre och håller längre så att en omoperation kan undvikas. READ MORE

  5. 5. The fixation of joint prostheses. Aspects on mechanics and biology

    Author : Ulrik Hansson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; histology; interface; micromotion; knee; joint replacement;

    Abstract : Abstract: In the interface, between implant and bone or between the cement and bone, there will develop some amount of fibrous tissue. The synovial fluid, the synovium, the cartilage and the subchondral bone from the non-replaced knee compartment that had been exposed to wear particles were studied by histological analyses. READ MORE
