  1. 21. Oxidative Stress, Angiogenesis and Inflammation in Normal Pregnancy and Postpartum

    Author : Maria Palm; Ove Axelsson; Samar Basu; Charlotta Grunewald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; inflammation; IL-6; F2-isoprostanes; oxidative stress; Pentraxin 3; PGF2α; PlGF; pregnancy; sFlt1; TNF-α; VEGF-A; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : The aims were to investigate oxidative stress (I), angiogenesis (II) and inflammation (III-IV) in healthy women during pregnancy and postpartum. Oxidative stress was estimated by measurement of 8-iso-PGF2α and the antioxidants α- and γ-tocopherol. READ MORE

  2. 22. The importance of astroglial cells in ischemia, regeneration and angiogenesis

    Author : Andrea Lundkvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : astrocytes; Müller cells; retina; intermediate filaments; GFAP; vimentin; angiogenesis; VEGF-A; guidance; matrix-metalloprotease;

    Abstract : Astrocytes in the CNS communicate with both neurons and blood vessels. In many CNS pathologies, astrocytes respond by becoming reactive. Whether their performance at this stage is beneficial or detrimental for CNS function is unclear. READ MORE

  3. 23. The Role of Paladin in Endothelial Cell Signaling and Angiogenesis

    Author : Anja Nitzsche; Mats Hellström; Frank-Dietmar Böhmer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pald1; endothelium; lung; vascular permeability; phosphatase; angiogenesis; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from a pre-existing vasculature, is crucial during development and for many diseases including cancer. Despite tremendous progress in the understanding of the angiogenic process, many aspects are still not fully elucidated. READ MORE

  4. 24. Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor-1 Function in Vasculo- and Angiogenesis

    Author : Peetra Magnusson; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Anne Eichmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; FGF; FGFR-1; VEGFR-2; PDGFR-β; endothelial cells; embryonic stem cell; angiogenesis; hematopoiesis; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Abstract : During development of the mammalian embryo, spatial and temporal expression of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their cognate receptors are vital in the regulation of a number of patterning processes. Inappropriate or decreased expression leads to severe malformations and even embryonic death. READ MORE

  5. 25. Regulation of postnatal neurogenesis and brain angiogenesis by thyroid hormone

    Author : Jenny Liqun Zhang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : thyroid hormone; neurogenesis; angiogenesis; SVZ OB; hippocampus; neural stem cells; endothelial cells; astrocytes;

    Abstract : Thyroid hormone (TH), which is secreted by the thyroid gland, exerts significant effects on the central nervous system (CNS), especially during development, so that delayed treatment of perinatal hypothyroidism results in severe cognitive retardation. Continuous postnatal neurogenesis occurs throughout adulthood in the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricle wall and in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampal formation.
